After Charlotte pinned Bayley in a tag team match on SmackDown Live this past week, it became obvious where we were headed: Charlotte would challenge for the SmackDown women’s championship at WWE Hell in a Cell tonight (Sun., Oct. 6, 2019) at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.
Sure enough.
It always felt like Bayley was living on borrowed time as champion, and that turned out to be accurate. They didn’t exactly tear the house down with the match they put together, but it had a decisive finish.
Bayley, more in line with who she’s been of late, tried to score a pinfall using the ropes as leverage. The referee caught her in the act and it wasn’t long after that Flair had her tied up in the Figure Eight. Bayley had no choice but to tap.
The victory gives Charlotte her 10th title reign, a new record.
When Flair went to the back, Bayley was left crying on the floor, shouting at fans to “shut up” while they chanted “you tapped out.”
