World Series sinks both AEW and NXT’s ratings, decline continues

AEW Dynamite and NXT on USA never stood a chance.

Opposite MLB’s heart-pounding game seven drama, which drew in 23 million viewers, Dynamite and NXT both hit their lowest totals of October.

Per Showbuzz Daily, the Oct. 30 episode of AEW Dynamite netted 759,000 viewers for a 0.33 rating in the 18-49 demographic. NXT on USA drew 580,000 viewers for a 0.18 rating in the 18-49 demo.

Last week both AEW Dynamite and NXT on USA hit new lows in terms of viewership. AEW picked up 963,000 while NXT garnered 698,000 viewers.

In general Wednesday was a packed night on both network and cable television. ESPN featured its usual double-header, while game seven of the World Series between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros on Fox remained competitive deep into the night.

The top five shows on cable TV featured American Horror Story on FX, South Park on Comedy Central, the two NBA on ESPN games, and The Challenge: War of Worlds 2 on MTV. Dynamite would come in sixth place on Wednesday night in the all important people 18-49 demographic. NXT would continue to plummet placing a series worst 32nd place in the 18-49 demo.

Here’s a breakdown of AEW viewership and rating in the 18 -49 demo through five weeks:

  • Oct. 2: 1.4 million / .68
  • Oct. 9: 1.02 million / .46 on TNT, plus 122K from Tru TV simulcast for total viewership of approximately 1.14 million
  • Oct. 16: 1.01 million / .44
  • Oct 24: 963,000 / .45
  • Oct 30: 759,000 / .34

Here’s a breakdown of NXT’s audience and ratings share of the same demographic through seven weeks:

Total viewership for Wednesday night checked in at 1,339,000 million pro wrestling fans.
