The good news is, it’s release day for the latest licensed pro wrestling sports entertainment video game from WWE and 2K.
The bad news is, those clips you may have seen floating around from advanced copies gaming influencers got their hands on? They may actually be indicative of the quality of WWE 2K20. #FixWWE2K20 has been trending on Twitter all morning, and that’s certainly not what anyone involved in creating and promoting the game wanted:
I’ve heard the term “running the ropes”, but this is ridiculous. #wwe2k20 #FixWWE2K20 pic.twitter.com/TQu8CvyRVi

We don’t have a ton of reviews available for the game on release date - which in and of itself may be a sign developers know this isn’t their finest effort. Some patches certainly appear to be in order, and will hopefully be coming in swift order.
Professional feedback - like this post on the new game from Brian Mazique for Forbes - praises this year’s edition for adding new features and evolve what you can get from a wrestling game, while at the same time blasting it for poor gameplay.
We’ll have to wait and see if 2K responds with a statement regarding the complaints, or how quickly they release some fixes. In the meantime, here’s their latest press release running down the features and explaining what they were trying to accomplish with WWE 2K20:
