WWE RAW RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR OCT. 21
Your love burns bright, and yet the flames are cold. This time I fear, you won’t be back no more. When will it end? your love consumes my soul. Into the fire, I’m being tempted once more, but first I’m here to liveblog this pro wrestling show for you, folks.
The show opens with a recap of all the Rollins/Wyatt nonsense.
Thence into the intro video.
Live in the arena, “Nature Boy” Ric Flair makes his entrance.
He gets on the mic and “Wooo!”s and struts and whatnot before moving on to talking about Team Hogan vs. Team Flair and introducing Drew McIntyre. McIntyre says Flair asked for a favor and it’s been granted, so he should get a front row seat as things get uncomfortable and he previews exactly what he’s doing to Team Hogan at Crown Jewel.
Ricochet makes his entrance and we go to break before the match.
Drew McIntyre vs. Ricochet
McIntyre throws Ricochet into the corner, the One and Only fights back and gets dumped to the floor! Following after, throwing him into the barricade. Back inside, putting boots to him, big palm strike and a forearm to lay him out. Back body drop out of the corner, only two! Kneeling armbar applied, tilt-a-whirl slam on the escape... STILL NO!
Crossface in the ropes, breaking at referee John Cone’s count, following up with a release suplex and then back into the armbar. Jockeying for position, up and over, to the floor and Ricochet takes Drew’s legs out from under him with a dropkick on the apron before coming off the ropes with a tope con giro to send us to break.
Back from commercial, McIntyre has a Border City Stretch locked on but Ricochet fights out. Hammer whip, Ricky lands on the back of his neck and the cover gets two. Quarter nelson applied, Flair is interviewed at ringside and calls Hulk Hogan out for SmackDown. Ricochet up, clubbing blows, boot up, Drew up top and he dives... and Ricochet takes his head off with a dropkick!
Ricochet in with rights, duck a lariat, backflip dropkick into an enzuigiri and he’s fired up! Shoulder thrust, springboard lariat! Fired up, running shooting star press... NOPE! Charging chop, duck a lariat, springboard roundhouse kick! Quebrada connects... STILL NO! Headed up top, ducking, kick from the apron, McIntyre throws him in and clubs him down! RUNNING CRUCIFIX POWERBOMB INTO THE TURNBUCKLES AND A LIGER BOMB CAN’T KEEP RICKY DOWN!
Underhooks, thinking Future Shock, countered into a jawbreaker! Leg-feed enzuigiri misses but the black magic connects! Crescent kick... DEATH VALLEY DRIVER! The One and Only up top to capitalize, shooting star press... NOT HAPPENING! Back up top, nobody home on the 630, going for Recoil and it gets countered into a belly-to-belly suplex over the ropes and to the floor!
Lawn dart into the post, Ricochet rolls inside for the count, McIntyre is lying in wait...
Drew McIntyre wins by pinfall with Claymore.
Post-match, Drew headbutts Ricochet and throws him into the post again... FUTURE SHOCK! He holds on and throws Ricky to the apron, grabs his legs... INVERTED ALABAMA SLAM INTO THE STEEL STEPS!
Ric gets in the ring and raises his man’s hand.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, Football, Jr. is shown in the front row.
We get a replay of last week’s stuff setting up the OC vs. Street Profits and a mystery partner.
The OC are interviewed backstage.
Karl Anderson questions the notion of them needing strategy to take care of rookies like the Street Profits. AJ Styles says he’s not wrong and the Profits talk about getting that smoke, but that’s illegal here in Cleveland. Luke Gallows goes for the easy anti-Cleveland cheap heat and AJ says the Profits are gonna get the beating of their lives.
They Too Sweet and leave.
We get a video package hyping up some of our fresh new superstars on Raw.
Aleister Black gets a promo in the dark room talking about his hellfire-like rage that claws at him as we speak.
Off to break we go.
Back from commercial, Aleister Black makes his entrance.
Aleister Black vs. Reynolds
I missed the full name of our enhancement talent here, unfortunately. Whip out of the corner, up and over, probing kick gets more in kind from Black, a legsweep, duck a lariat but Reynolds cuts him off and puts boots to him in the corner. Al fires back with strikes, big knee lift...
Aleister Black wins by pinfall with Black Mass.
We see Rusev and his nipples walking backstage to send us to break.
Back from commercial, the Authors of Pain get a vignette of the same sort they’ve gotten for the past month and change, but this time it’s also about how Raw drafted them to keep them away from SmackDown and they’re going to dominate.
Jerry “the King” Lawler is in the ring for the King’s Court.
He introduces Rusev as his guest, of course, before launching into his questions about the whole situation with Bobby Lashley and Lana and what Rusev is thinking. Rusev says it’s all Bob Lashley’s fault for poisoning Lana’s brain, and for that he will be crushed. As far as she goes, he may be a fool, but he still wears his wedding band because every day he hopes and he prays that they’re gonna pass through this into happily ever after.
Lashley appears on the tron out at a restaurant with Lana. He says he wishes he could be there to settle their differences, but he can’t because he’s not going to make the same mistake Rusev made, and that means taking care of her needs. She feeds him some dessert and then berates Rusev for not taking her to this restaurant.
The Bulgarian Brute has a message for them and he’d like to deliver it in person, because he knows exactly where they are.
Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega are shown backstage to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Almas and Vega make their entrance.
Zelina gets on the mic to tell everybody how great Andrade is.
Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Sin Cara
Waistlock gets a back elbow, Almas right in with chops but Cara hits a dropkick and follows it with a suicide dive! Diving crossbody, chops in the corner, whip across and Humberto Carrillo is shown watching backstage. Vega runs interference, Andrade puts boots to him, cover for two. Scoop and a slam, more boots, off the ropes, tijeras sends Cien to the floor, up top... ORIHARA MOONSAULT SENDS US TO BREAK!
Back from commercial, trading punches, Cara with a springboard crossbody and they go back to slugging it out! Almas cuts him off, off the ropes and Sin snaps off a Death Valley Driver! Headed up top, senton atomico comes up empty and Andrade drop toeholds him into the corner. Sidestep the running knees, off the ropes, Cien counters La Mistica into a slam!
Three Amigos, no dice, up top, jockeying for position, Sin Cara sunset flip powerbomb gets a tight nearfall! Almas cuts him off on the second try, corner knees... NOPE! Cien, off the ropes, back body drop sends him to the floor! Vega gets in with a tijeras on the floor, back inside, hammerlock...
Andrade “Cien” Almas wins by pinfall with the hammerlock DDT.
Humberto Carrillo is interviewed backstage.
He puts Almas over as a future Universal Champion and says he has a lot to prove, but when he does he’s gonna be the best kind of champion.
And that sends us to break.
Back from commercial, the Street Profits are chatting backstage.
They run the OC down one by one before hyping their match up and announcing that it’s the main event tonight! Montez Ford asks Angelo Dawkins who their partner is, if it’s Ric Flair or Booker T or Kurt Angle, of whom it is none of those guys. The man in question doesn’t like AJ Styles and he’s just like them, so hit ‘em with that catchphrase.
24/7 Champion R-Truth is skulking along backstage when he runs into a Bollywood Boy, who runs a distraction so his brother can win the tight!
One of the Singhs wins the 24/7 Championship by pinfall.
Commentary runs through the card and hypes up Crown Jewel.
Viking Raiders make their entrance to send us to break.
Back from commercial in time for Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder to be interviewed backstage.
They cut a promo about how grateful they are for these opportunities and how they’re gonna string together some wins.
Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder vs. Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar)
Erik hard out the gates, gutbuster on Hawkins and then he Doctor Bombs him into Ryder! Tag to Ivar, he freight trains Ryder, shotgun knees, Erik spinebusters him into Zack! Hawkins pulls him out of the ring and Warbeard dives on them! Tag to Erik, Hawkins and Ryder with double teams and quick tags to keep him off guard. Erik gets away, tag to Ivar, slam and a freight train crossbody take Hawkins out!
Banzai Drop, cartwheel lariat, tag to Erik. Scoop and a slam, cover gets broken up by Ryder and Erik sends him to hell with a knee to the face! Hawkins runs in...
Viking Raiders win by pinfall with the Viking Experience on Curt Hawkins.
We go to the restaurant where Lana and Bob Lashley are eating and the manager offers them a comp and says he doesn’t want trouble, which they laugh off.
And so we go to break.
Back from commercial, shock of shocks, Rusev busts into the restaurant and starts beating Bob Lashley up.
Guards swarm him and pull him off of Lashley as Lana screams.
Rey Mysterio makes his entrance and gets in the ring for a promo.
He talks about how he’s been training with Cain Velasquez and getting him ready to win the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar and he wanted to take a break to come here and thank everyone for the outpouring of love that he and his family have experienced.
Paul Heyman appears on the tron and says there’s been a misunderstanding and he wouldn’t be saying this if Brock was in the building. He talks about how much Brock has been salivating for a chance for revenge and Rey has served Cain up on a silver platter like dinner.
Rey cuts him off angrily and then gets cut off in turn--
Enter Shelton Benjamin.
He runs down what’s happened in the feud and asks if Cain is getting a title shot just because he showed up to defend Rey. Well, Brock Lesnar is an old friend of his and he’s his family, and nobody in WWE knocks Brock better than him. Shelton says he’s got it all figured out and he’s gonna test a theory and find out what happens if he pushes Mysterio around.
Beat up Rey Mysterio and get a title shot, that’s how it works, right? One shove US title, two shoves Intercontinental? He backs Rey into the corner and slaps him, asking where his buddy is now--
Enter Cain Velasquez.
Benjamin backs up as Cain makes his way to the ring but goes for the first shot once he enters. Velasquez blocks a leg pick, lifts him up and slams him down, punches to the ribs, waistlock takedown, sleeper hold applied and he shoves Shelton out of the ring as he taps!
Backstage, Seth Rollins is interviewed.
He admits that maybe the Fiend has gotten inside his head, but maybe he got inside the Fiend’s head, huh, ever think about that? But no, the Fiend is different, he’s got an aura, and once you’ve stepped in the ring with him, you’re changed forever. He breaks the interview to go talk to Humberto Carrillo and talks down to him like he’s his damn dad or something, rambling about being champion meaning sometimes you have to do things you don’t want, like burn down fun houses.
And further he challenges him to his first match... after the break.
Back from commercial, some sporting men are shown in the front row.
A propaganda reel for Saudi Arabia follows.
Humberto Carrillo vs. Seth Rollins
Carrillo hot out the gates, Rollins locks him down with a rear chinlock and he makes the ropes. Leg pick, half-crab, Humberto reverses into a side headlock, off the ropes, jockeying for position, springboard arm drag puts Seth on the back foot, double jump crossbody... NOPE! Action to the floor, Rollins getting frustrated and he puts Carrillo into the barricade and suplexes him on the floor to send us to break.
Back from commercial, Rollins is in control with a kneeling armbar, pushing Carrillo’s face into the mat before breaking and dropping a knee on his elbow. Chop and a whip, big forearm, Humberto gets some separation, enzuigiri connects, and he takes things to the floor to put the champ into the barricade! Back inside, Rollins sidesteps the dive and his the Falcon Arrow... NOPE!
Out of the corner, counter a powerbomb counter, get the buckle bomb! Avada Kedavra connects... NOPE! Tuning up the band, Blackout sidestepped, schoolboy... SO CLOSE! Pump kick, 540 roundhouse, snap DDT and he drags Rollins into position, up top, diving moonsault... STILL NO! Rollins fires up, superkick...
Seth Rollins wins by pinfall with Blackout.
Post-match, Rollins offers Carrillo a handshake, which is accepted.
Backstage, the OC are walking to send us to break.
Back from commercial, R-Truth and referee Danilo Anfibio come across a Singh Brother backstage but they got the wrong one and Anfibio refuses to count!
They run off and Truth is shocked to learn that there are, in fact, two of them.
We get our main event entrances.
AJ Styles gets on the mic to demand they reveal their third man, wondering if he’s perhaps invisible or imaginary.
We go to break waiting on the identity of the third man.
Back from commercial the bell rings without the Street Profits’ partner in the ring. (And later events will make it clear this stopped being a six-man even if they never announced that it wasn’t anymore because why would you ever announce things?)
Street Profits (Angelo Dawkins & Montez Ford) vs. the OC (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, & Luke Gallows)
Ford and Anderson to start, Montez on the back foot at first but he fires up and sends him to the floor with a dropkick. Dawkins throws him back in for another dropkick and mounted punches, forcing Karl to regroup on the floor. The OC make their way around, back inside, Ford cuts him off, tag to Angelo. Off the ropes, lariat, back suplex Montez into a splash but Machine Gun makes the corner.
Tag to Gallows, the big men square up and Big Hoot gets a boot. Off the ropes, shoulder block, punches in the corner, Luke gets boots off and puts Dawkins into the corner for body blows. Kneeling armbar, forearms, tag to Anderson, tag to Ford! Duck the lariat, leapfrog into a lariat, clear the apron, fired up! AJ Styles running interference and Karl dumps Montez to the floor where Gallows boots him in the face!
Diving knee off the apron cuts Ford off and we go to break.
Back from commercial, still no third man and Gallows has Ford in a bad way. Kneeling armbar with a fishhook, tag to Anderson, mounted punches raining down and he follows it up with a reverse chinlock. Tag back to Luke, whip across, counter the back body drop with a front kick, double lariats leave both men down and out! Sidestep the charge, the path is clear, tag to Dawkins!
Angelo running hot, Stinger Splashes, tag to Ford, thinking Doomsday Device but Gallows makes the save! Dawkins lariats him out of the ring, AJ Styles running interference, Anderson spinebuster... NOPE! Pass Montez to the floor, Styles hooks him and referee Chad Patton throws him out... EXCEPT KEVIN OWENS IS THE THIRD MAN! STUNNER! FORD TOPE CON GIRO! DAWKINS SKY HIGH!
Tag made...
Street Profits win by pinfall with a frog splash from Montez Ford on Karl Anderson.
The Profits celebrate in the crowd.
That’s the show, folks.
