Whether because they’re #WithAEW or because they’re just curious about the first widely available alternative to WWE that’s come down the pike in years, the odds favor All Elite Wrestling winning the first ratings battle of their Wednesday night war with NXT tonight (Oct. 2).
But even if it’ll all likely balance out in the Live+3 and Live+7 numbers which account for DVR viewing, I guess every viewer, point and percentage counts. So Triple H & company have announced they’re opening their broadcast on USA with the NXT championship match featuring Adam Cole defending against Matt Riddle. AEW announced some time ago that Dynamite will begin with Cody Rhodes against Sammy Guevara - a fun match which Cody has said is for his Full Gear title shot, but not the most anticipated match on tonight’s slate.
USA is also listing tonight’s NXT as having a 15 minute overrun. Which means that whichever match does main event from Florida (likely Candice LeRae vs. NXT Women’s champ Shayna Baszler) will carry over into the start of TNT’s Dynamite replay at 10PM eastern.
All’s fair in love and war.
