Tonight (Oct. 15, 2019) on FS1, a special preview episode of WWE Backstage aired to give viewers a taste of what they can expect from the program come its debut proper on Nov. 5. The result was 45 minutes of Renee Young, Booker T, Christian, and Paige toeing the line between kayfabe and reality while being mostly complimentary of all things WWE.
There’s real potential for a show like this, assuming those involved are allowed the freedom to speak on the company and its programming without fear of repercussions. To that end, it may very well need someone like CM Punk to come on board.
If not, Paige calling out Seth Rollins for his “cheesy” delivery of “burn it down” on Raw this week could be the most critical we see any of these “analysts” get.
It felt too much like a WWE preshow throughout the majority of it but, again, it showed real potential if there’s a willingness to dig deeper and, you know, actually go backstage with it.
Having said all that, the clear star of the show was Rachel Bonnetta for the work she did in this skit with Rollins:
That’s just good stuff.
