WWE announced earlier today (Tues., Oct. 15) that Eric Bischoff was being replaced as Executive Director of SmackDown by Bruce Prichard. Bischoff was hired for the job at the end of June.
He’s now commented on the move, in an entirely positive statement sent via Twitter. Quote tweeting Pro Wrestling Sheet’s Ryan Satin confirming that he was not only replaced in SmackDown management, but that he is done with WWE altogether, Bischoff wrote:
“Bruce is a great producer, good friend and I am certain he is going to thrive in his position. He’s going to be working with a great team of the most dedicated and hard working people I have had the pleasure of working with and getting to know.”
Prichard returned to the WWE creative team back in February. At the time, people with experiencing working backstage - like Jim Cornette - said he was there to help communicate Vince McMahon’s vision to writers and producers.
More to come, surely.
