WWE Raw viewership up for the ‘season premiere’

WWE went all out promoting its television slate this week, dubbing it “premiere week” in honor of SmackDown’s move to the Fox network. That included calling this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw the “season premiere,” and bringing in the likes of Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair.

It may not have resulted in a higher quality program but it definitely boosted viewership, if only for one week.

Indeed, the show drew 2.57 million viewers, up from 2.2 million the past couple weeks. It was the most viewers the show has drawn in a month.

The hourly breakdown:

Hour one: 2.70 million
Hour two: 2.59 million
Hour three: 2.41 million

The Steelers beat up on the Bengals in an uninteresting game between two 0-3 teams and Monday Night Football still did over 10 million viewers. That’s a sign of a successful show. That Raw couldn’t do better here shows where its base audience is right now. It’s not bad, certainly, but it isn’t great.

Not anymore.
