The Jan. 7 episode of Raw featured a pull apart brawl, but not the one many of us were expecting.
Instead of seeing a hoss fight preview between Universal champion Brock Lesnar and his Royal Rumble challenger Braun Strowman, we got... this:
A feud that needed more than Strowman making threats he hasn’t backed up in his previous title shots and Paul Heyman talking while his client smirked, got Strowman making threats he hasn’t backed up in his previous title shots and Paul Heyman talking while his client smirked.
Why?
According to both Wrestling Observer Radio and PWInsider, it’s because Braun still hasn’t been cleared for any physical contact following his November elbow surgery. Dave Meltzer also points out that the Monster Among Men isn’t advertised for any non-televised live dates between now and Jan. 27 in Chase Field.
Lesnar is due back for the ‘go home’ show on Jan. 21, and there’s nothing in these reports to indicate Strowman won’t be ready to go by Phoenix (he’s cleared to jump into frozen lakes, after all). So some fire could get added there.
But until then, expect more...
