We’re officially on the Road to WrestleMania, and for WWE on Tuesday nights, the terrain looks pretty familiar.
Jan. 29 was the Royal Rumble fallout episode of SmackDown, and viewers were actually down slightly (~ 5K) from the previous week’s ‘go home’s show. 2,137,000 people tuned in to see Becky Lynch confronted by Charlotte and WWE champion Daniel Bryan unveil his eco-friendly title. That’s the third straight week of a virtually unchanged viewership.
Demographic share among the 18 - 49 year olds has been similarly flat. This week it was back up to .70, slightly better than last week and identical to the week prior.
The blue brand had the second best rating among cable original on the night, behind History’s Curse of Oak Island. SmackDown was the eighth most watched show among cable originals on the night, behind MSNBC & Fox News’ programming and Canadian treasure hunters.
We’ll be one step closer to the Granddaddy of Them All next week, but I don’t see any reason to expect different numbers.
