WWE Royal Rumble 2019 results: Balor wounds Brock, but still taps out

For his Universal title match against Brock Lesnar at Royal Rumble on Sun., Jan. 27 in Phoenix’s Chase Field, the challenger Finn Bálor went as David instead of The Demon.

Was it the right way to try to take down the Beast and reclaim the belt he only held for a day in 2016?

It looked good at the bell, where his quickness allowed him to get the drop on Lesnar, moving and landing a variety of leg strikes...

... until he was grabbed and thrown across the ring with a suplex.

Action spilled to the outside and when Brock ripped the top of the announce table, a drop kick from behind by Bálor sent him midsection first into the corner of the table. He stayed on the offensive while also selling some internal damage. Michael Cole, Corey Graves and Renee Young reminded us about Lesnar’s past diverticulitis diagnoses. After a few throws, he was in so much pain he couldn’t lift Finn for his signature suplexes.

It allowed Bálor to counter a F5 into a DDT, and unleash a trio of tope con hilos that left Brock barely able to get back into the ring.

It lead to a Coup de Gras, but Lesnar kicked out at two and went right into a kimura!

Afterwards, Lesnar laid in the punishment, hitting another suplex and a F5. He posed as the crowd (mostly) jeered.

Who is the babyface who will return and take him down?
