Professional wrestling can be presented in many ways, but I tend to appreciate it most when it’s taken as seriously as though it is legitimate combat. Here, we have Sasha Banks linking up with Drew Gulak and Oney Lorcan, and it’s clear from the outset, with Gulak explaining that most of Ronda Rousey’s wins in MMA were short matches while Banks almost never has short matches in WWE.
“Ronda’s a great martial artist but Sasha’s a great professional wrestler,” says Lorcan. “So it’s going to be a very interesting battle of styles.”
The three are shown watching film to study for the match Banks will have against Rousey at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view on Sun., Jan. 27, 2019, at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona. Just after, she trains with Charlotte Flair, a past opponent of Rousey’s, who is giving her pointers and showing her a few tricks.
She even heads to Brooklyn to train with Amazing Red at House of Glory!
Everything about this speaks to me in all the ways I wish professional wrestling was presented, and it does one hell of a job getting me excited for the Raw women’s championship match that is now just a couple days away.
