Aiden English is a commentator now

Since breaking off from and putting over his tag partner Rusev in an angle where he tried to use some clever video editing to break up the current United States champ’s marriage (pro wrestling, everybody!), Aiden English has disappeared from our screens.

But he’ll be back tonight, but not on the brand he left - and not as a wrestler.

WWE has announced English will join Vic Joseph and Nigel McGuinness as “a guest commentator through WrestleMania season” on 205 Live. The show’s General Manager Drake Maverick says he’s following the McMahon’s family lead from Raw & SmackDown and “shaking things up”. Senior Director of On-Air Talent Michael Cole put Aiden over (even if he sounds surprised he’s doing it), “We’ve been working with Aiden at the WWE Performance Center to see if he has the chops, and it turns out he’s pretty good.”

While the article specifies English is still a member of the SmackDown roster, you have to wonder if this might lead to him joining the purple brand. He’s listed as 215 pounds, but he’s been getting pretty cut...

... and it’s not like WWE can’t just say he made weight if they want to use him on 205 Live.

We’ll see about that, and how he does on the mic with Joseph & McGuinness starting tonight (Jan. 22).
