Hulk Hogan has an opinion on Kenny Omega not signing with WWE

If you got pro wrestling questions, Hulk Hogan has your answers.

Briefly back in the spotlight thanks to his appearance this week on Raw to honor Mean Gene Okerlund, Hogan is now being asked about, of all things, the pending free agency of New Japan’s Kenny Omega.

Hogan’s cameo on Monday night was mostly praised and WWE even felt the need to start pushing his merch again. So, on the surface asking Hogan about the current wrestling topics of the day feels odd, but maybe The Hulkster has some insight about what it is like to a free agent in wrestling.

In a new interview with Sports Illustrated, Hogan was asked about what it would mean to Omega’s career if he never wrestled for WWE.

“It’s tough to go your whole life without eating at McDonald’s or riding in a Chevrolet,” said Hogan. “If you don’t touch on the WWE, the story’s not complete. But maybe Kenny could be the exception.”

Hogan would go on to fondly recall his own experiences wrestling in Japan.

“I could have stayed in Japan. I loved working there with Freddie Blassie. That’s when I was working for Vince Sr. He sent me over there and I fell in love with the place. I used to call him after a four-week tour and ask if I could stay the extra six days until the next tour started. I loved it in Japan.”

The list of pro wrestlers who have had a great career without setting foot in a WWE ring is a long one. On a scale of Sting’s WWE career to AJ Styles’ current WWE run, where would Omega potentially fall?

If Kenny Omega was guaranteed to have similar success to what Styles has had, could he still say no to WWE?
