WWE goes with AJ Styles vs. Daniel Bryan again, this time at the Royal Rumble

If you thought AJ Styles was done hanging around the WWE title scene, you were wrong.

On another holiday episode of SmackDown, WWE put a very important match into the main event slot. The first SmackDown of 2019 featured a fatal-five-way match with the winner earning a shot against The New Daniel Bryan at the 2019 Royal Rumble.

AJ Styles, Mustafa Ali, Randy Orton, Rey Mysterio and Samoa Joe, all got the opportunity to become the number one contender to Bryan’s title.

With five talented wrestlers, competing in a tornado style format, the match itself featured plenty of epic moments. Ali and Mysterio had a frantic sequence, Joe slammed Styles through the announce table and of course Orton hit a wicked RKO.

The end of the match came when Orton hit a RKO on Ali but the match was prolonged by a diving Mysterio. Joe took out himself and Mysterio, which allowed Styles to hit a 450 splash on The Viper for the 1-2-3.

The Royal Rumble pay-per-view (PPV) takes place on Sun., Jan. 27, 2019, at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
