Let’s predict the next year of wrestling

WWE.com

2019 is upon us and with it, a new year of professional wrestling. So while we relax on New Years Day, possibly taking in some college football while recovering from last night, let’s make some wild predictions on what’s to come in the next year.

I’ll start us off:

  1. Drew McIntyre will win the Universal title at SummerSlam and hold it for the rest of the year.
  2. Chris Jericho will be in the Royal Rumble this year, less than a month after losing the IWGP Intercontinental title to Tetsuya Naito. It won’t be a return; however, as Jericho will continue to play free agent with some more work in New Japan and All Elite Wrestling as well.
  3. Rusev will be the man to finally end Daniel Bryan’s WWE title reign, but it will be later in the year.
  4. The Bella Twins will return to challenge for the Women’s tag team titles against Sasha and Bayley, who are the inaugural champions.
  5. Matt Riddle is not in NXT for long, debuting on the main roster by the end of this year.

We did this last year so you can check it out here to see how you did if you played along with us. You can also peruse the comments to see how close people came to things actually happening. Personally, I did pretty poorly, only coming kind of close on a Dean Ambrose heel turn, but I said he’d return much earlier than he did and that he’d be a great vicious heel, neither which seem to be the case. (I also called a Rusev world title win last year so hopefully two times the charm.)

So let’s hear it, Cagesiders. What are your wild or not-so-wild predictions for this year?
