Daniel Bryan’s free agency is over before it began.
With reports of his last WWE contract running through Sept. 1, rumors have always hinted that maybe Bryan would take a good, long look at what wrestling outside of the WWE may entail in 2018.
If the latest reports hold true, Daniel Bryan has already agreed to terms with the WWE and the company will likely announce the signing in the coming week. From the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required and encouraged), Dave Meltzer reports the latest news on Bryan re-upping with the WWE.
“Daniel Bryan just signed his new contract so they’ve agreed on terms. As of 9/3 it was not official since WWE hadn’t signed it, but that’s a formality and it should be official very soon if not this week. It’s been pretty much a given now for several weeks that he wasn’t going anywhere for a number of reasons. But it was not an easy decision and he was lucky that whatever his decision was going to be, there was no wrong decision”
Last month Bryan himself said “he was 90% sure he would re-sign” with the pro wrestling promotion he has called home since 2009. Announced in early August, Bryan’s huge push in WWE 2K19’s Showcase mode may have also been a telltale sign that he was never going anywhere.
Though financial terms or the length of the contract have not yet been revealed, it looks like Daniel Bryan’s long-term home will be the WWE.
