Lita vs. Mickie James announced for Evolution

Mickie James was on the long list of current roster Superstars asking for a match against Trish Stratus at Evolution, WWE’s first all-women pay-per-view (PPV) event. That match went to Alexa Bliss, but Mickie will get to face a Hall of Famer she has history with on Oct. 28 in Uniondale, New York.

James will face Lita at Evolution. This is the second match booked for the show, although we do know the Mae Young Classic (MYC) final and four championship matches will take place on Long Island next month.

It will only be Lita’s second official WWE bout since losing what was billed as her retirement match to Mickie at Survivor Series back in 2006. She was a surprise entrant in the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble this past January, and defeated Heath Slater in a comedy match on Raw 1000 in 2012.

James commented on getting to face Lita, which was also mentioned as a dream match by Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks (for a tag with Bayley against Trish, her first choice, and the First Lady of Team Xtreme):

WWE must have other plans for the NXT Horsewomen. These early announcements have given the show the feel of a greatest hits house show, but the MYC finale, title fights and promise of over 50 wrestlers taking part in Evolution give the company plenty of opportunities to build a card with stakes for current storylines between now and Oct. 28.

Thoughts on Mickie vs. Lita, Cagesiders? Or how the show is shaping up as a whole?
