WWE Super Show-Down match card, rumors

New, comments

The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is a special event entitled Super Show-Down, which is set to take place on Sat., Oct. 6, 2018, at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne, Australia. This was a late add to the schedule, so it’s come together in just the past few months.

We’re just under one week out from showtime. Here’s how the card looks:

  • Undertaker vs. Triple H

They’re billing this as a “LAST TIME EVER” match but rumors and reports suggest they could be wrestling in a tag match as soon as a month later. Either way, they’re getting another singles match here.

  • The Shield vs. The Dogs of War

Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Seth Rollins have all been feuding with Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, and Dolph Ziggler in various forms for a while now. Here, they’ll work a six-man tag. They’ve introduced the wrinkle that Dean Ambrose could be turning on The Shield at some point.

  • AJ Styles (c) vs. Samoa Joe (WWE championship)

This is being pushed as a No Disqualification, no count out match because, as SmackDown Live General Manager Paige put it, there must be a winner. That ignores they’ve done that before, and also that they’ve booked similar matches with that idea and it didn’t matter, but here we are. Also, Samoa Joe is a home invader.

  • Ronda Rousey & The Bella Twins vs. The Riott Squad

Ruby Riott beat up Natalya to take her place in a Raw women’s title open challenge match, and then Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan got involved. Nikki & Brie Bella assisted Rousey, having become friends with her. This match is in question, at least in its current former, after Morgan was concussed by Bella on Raw this past week.

  • Becky Lynch (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (SmackDown women’s championship)

Lynch won the title at Hell in a Cell, and this is Flair’s rematch.

  • John Cena & Bobby Lashley vs. Kevin Owens & Elias

Lashley has been going back-and-forth with Elias a bit but they’re selling this as a match where all four have never shared the ring before. Cena has been off in China filming a movie and has slimmed down quite a bit.

  • Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

The winner will receive a future WWE championship match, though it isn’t specified when that will be.

  • The New Day (c) vs. The Bar (SmackDown tag team championship)

Cesaro & Sheamus lost to Rusev Day when they could have earned a title match at Hell in a Cell, so I guess they’re just next in line?

  • Asuka & Naomi vs. The IIconics

Billie Kay & Peyton Royce return home to take on a surprisingly fun team.

  • Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Buddy Murphy (Cruiserweight championship)

Murphy returns home, and gets a title shot.

That’s the card as it stands now, and may end up being the complete event.
