Reports indicate Shawn Michaels will come out of retirement for a match at WWE Crown Jewel, and television storylines suggest there could be even more after that. If there is, it will likely be another match with Undertaker, the man who retired him all the way back at WrestleMania 26 back in 2010.
It really has been over eight years.
WWE released the full video of that match to YouTube today and you can watch it above. It wasn’t quite as good as what they put together at WrestleMania 25 the year before, but what it lacked technically it made up for in storytelling and emotion. This was it, after all. The Heartbreak Kid’s career was coming to a close — at least the active wresting portion of it — in the main event of WrestleMania and it hits hard.
Michaels was involved in, to my eyes, pretty much all of Undertaker’s greatest matches. It was only fitting that he be the one to send Michaels off. It’s equally fitting he be the one to bring him back into the fold.
