What should Rey Mysterio do when he returns to WWE?

It looks like 6-1-9s will soon be a staple of WWE television again soon. Word is Rey Mysterio’s new contract is settled and signed, and he’ll soon be jumping out the sky and onto Raw or SmackDown.

So what should the legendary luchador do when he arrives?

There’s a rumor going around which makes a good deal of sense. Ringside News says Rey could face Shinsuke Nakamura at Crown Jewel in Riyadh on Nov. 2. Given the money reportedly being thrown around by Saudi princes to get big names on cards in the Kingdom - Mysterio returned on a one-shot deal for Greatest Royal Rumble - that’s not surprising. Nakamura is the United States champ, but his belt wouldn’t have to be on the line. Their match would fit in with the World Cup theme, with Shinsuke representing Japan and Rey either the U.S. or Mexico.

Lots of fans have played the thread out even farther. If Mysterio takes the red, white and blue belt from Nakamura - either at Crown Jewel or later on - another rumored feud could be for that title, and a way to get the U.S. championship on rising star Andrade “Cien” Almas. An Almas/Nak feud doesn’t make a ton of sense since both men are heels. But Rey vs. Cien solves that problem, and accomplishes an alleged Vince McMahon goal of using his last big Latino star (sorry/not sorry, Alberto) to help make his next one.

Personally, I’m on board with this plan if it works out as rumored. But I’m sure it’s not the only good use of Mysterio - heck, WWE’s website got us excited about the AJ Styles match in the header image with this article.

Not that any of us have the book, but let’s kick around some ideas. What are yours, Cagesiders?
