Remember the Greatest Royal Rumble championship?
Yeah, me neither.
It’s worth wondering if Braun Strowman remembers it. He won the thing in Jeddah on April 27, and even lugged the trophy and green belt around for a while when he got back to the States. But it didn’t come with any in-story perks, and he’s in pretty much the same “always a challenger, never the champ” position he was in before heading to Saudi Arabia.
What happened afterwards, like the Greatest Royal Rumble title and a lot of things in WWE, doesn’t matter. The company is headed back to the Kingdom for another multi-million dollar payday, and they’re making up another trophy to give to someone.
The WWE World Cup!
Will the award, which the press release announcing Crown Jewel tells us next to nothing about - it’s “the first-ever WWE World Cup tournament to determine the best in the world” - help whichever Superstar wins it at the King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh on Fri., Nov. 2?
Find out on WWE Network in about six weeks. Or, if your interest-level, conscience or wallet prohibits you doing that, don’t. It probably won’t matter anyway.
