After dropping the Universal championship he’d held for almost a year and half to Roman Reigns at SummerSlam, it looked like Brock Lesnar was headed off to UFC to focus on a superfight with Daniel Cormier. When he didn’t show up the next night at Raw, everyone figured it would be next WrestleMania season - at the earliest - before the Beast Incarnate was back in WWE.
That may still be true. But PWInsider is reporting that Brock is backstage at Hell in a Cell in San Antonio tonight (Sept. 16).
We’ve been expecting interference in the main event between Braun Strowman and Reigns. Maybe it doesn’t come from The Shield or Dogs of War? Insider says WWE isn’t making any attempts to hide Lesnar from the public, which doesn’t fit the pattern for a surprise run-in.
Frequent Lesnar rival Undertaker is around a lot these days with Super Show-Down on the horizon. Could he get back in the part-time legends mix? The Dead Man isn’t advertised until Raw in Dallas tomorrow, but San Antone is actually closer to his Austin stomping grounds.
Or is he just visiting friends? Paul Heyman has reportedly stuck around and been working creative since Brock left in August.
Stay tuned to find out.
