WWE 205 Live results (Sept. 11, 2018): Tozawa & Alexander vs. Gulak & Gallagher

New, comments

Here's a place to check results and comment along with the latest airing of WWE 205 Live as it airs on WWE Network.

Seeking to send a message to Cruiserweight Champ Cedric Alexander, Drew Gulak and his boys Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick attacked Akira Tozawa before a recent match. Tozawa got a measure of revenge by beating Kendrick in singles action, but still wants more. Cedric is definitely still hot from the post-match beatdown the Philadelphia Stretcher put on him last Tuesday.

Elsewhere, Buddy Murphy continues to get ready for his Super Show-Down title shot with matches against Lucha House Party, following up on a recent win over Kalisto with a date against Gran Metalik - who defeated the Juggernaught’s ally Tony Nese last week - tonight. Mustafa Ali is till on the hunt for Hideo Itami, even though DRAKE MAVERICK hasn’t given the Heart of 205 Live clearance to return after his medical scare. Noam Dar keeps picking up wins, and has caught the eye of Lince Dorado (following in DM THE GM’s footsteps as a two brand, tweener Superstar).

We'll post match results, highlights and plot developments here. And this gives you Cagesiders a dedicated place to rave and/or bitch about whatever goes down on the WWE’s cruiserweight showcase - while it’s being broadcast at 10PM Eastern!

Enjoy the show!

- DRAKE MAVERICK runs down tonight’s two pre-announced matches and the history behind them.

- Vic Joseph, Nigel McGuinness and Percy Watson welcome us to Lafayette, Louisiana.

- Buddy Murphy def. Gran Metalik via pinfall following Murphy’s Law

The usually strong 205 Live back and forth noteworthy for Buddy kicking out of a Metalik Driver.

The luchador “hurt” his knee on landing after an escape, which led to his eating a boot from Murphy and the finish.

- Murphy grabs a mic and declares himself unstoppable, promising to win the title in his hometown of Melbourne on Oct. 6.

- The announcers tell us Mustafa Ali’s cleared and will be in action tonight. Then we get a recap of his loss to Hideo Itami and collapse afterwards. He’s warming up in the locker room and the champ walks up and wishes him well, saying 205 Live hasn’t been the same without him. Mustafa wishes it was him going out there with Ced tonight, but Alexander says he’s in good hands. We get a little comedy with Akira Tozawa being intense but pausing his warm-up AHs to smile and wave.

- Ali is out for his match, but before it starts, Hideo is out to say he’s here to watch the match because he missed Mustafa. He hopes Ali is feeling better and wishes him good luck.

- Mustafa Ali def. Michael Thompson via pinfall following an 0-5-4

Thompson got in a few moves worth of offense when Ali stared at Itami on the ramp, but this was a decisive squash.

DRAKE, who watched on a monitor from backstage to make sure Mustafa is okay. Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher join him. He warns them against letting the main devolve into chaos. Drew says they just want to score an inspirational victory for The Brian Kendrick, who’s at home injured at the hands of Tozawa. Jack wonders if things aren’t chaotic because DM THE GM is distracted by his role with AOP. MAVERICK says he can call them and have them explain to the duo how focused DRAKE is on 205 Live when he’s here.

- Noam Dar and Bobby Lashley’s friend Lio Rush each get selfie promos to set-up their match for next week.

- Drew Gulak & Jack Gallagher def. Cedric Alexander & Akira Tozawa via submission (GuLock on Tozawa)

Tozawa was set-up for the senton off the top, but Gulak pulled Gallagher out. Cedric rushed them on the floor, but ended up eating a face-full of ringpost after being outnumbered. Jack headbutted a still woozy Akira, then tagged in his partner for the finish.

- Kayla Braxton catches up with DM backstage, and he announces a title match between Gulak and Alexander for next week.
