What is Christopher Fozzy doing in the Impact Zone?
For the past several months Chris Jericho has blazed his own path in the world of pro wrestling. The latest rumor involving the WWE and New Japan star is that a move over to Impact Wrestling may be on the table.
Promoting his Rock ‘n’ Wrestling Rager at Sea cruise in October, Jericho has already worked closely with Impact Wrestling. Even last month on social media, Jericho openly addressed the rumors of him going to Impact Wrestling after his time with New Japan was up.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscription required and encouraged) Dave Meltzer reports some news about Jericho enjoying the direction Impact is headed and being open to working with more promotions outside of the WWE.
“In the conversation mentioned last week with Chris Jericho and Leonard Asper, he actually spoke to Asper about both Don Callis and Scott D’Amore being the people he should put in charge. D’Amore was already with the company because Jeff Jarrett had brought him back when Jarrett got control. While nobody will say anything, there is a lot of belief within the business than Jericho is destined to be here and the not wanting to do anything that would get Vince mad doctrine isn’t nearly as strong as it was months ago.”
Jericho’s previous run with the WWE, his work with Kevin Owens in particular, was largely praised by the pro wrestling community. The 47-year-old would up his game once again when he made the move to New Japan last year and his feud with Kenny Omega turned into an instant classic.
This year Jericho made a cameo at Raw 25 and was the 50th entrant into the Greatest Royal Rumble match in April. Jericho would go on to become the first man to have held the WWE and IWGP Intercontinental Championships when he defeated Tetsuya Naito for the New Japan title in May.
If it’s in the cards, how would you book a Chris Jericho appearance for Impact Wrestling in 2018 or even 2019?
