It was just days ago that Renee Young made it clear if WWE is going to make a spot available for a woman to do commentary, she wants it. Not long after that, it was revealed she would be in the booth calling the Mae Young Classic alongside Beth Phoenix and Michael Cole.
Now, she’s getting an even bigger assignment.
Indeed, ESPN reports that Jonathan Coachman has outside obligations next week so Young will fill in for him on Monday Night Raw. She’s very excited about it:
“When Michael told me, I was like, ‘This Monday?! What are you talking about?!’ I am so excited for this opportunity. To be sitting with Cole, who has been such a great champion of mine since I’ve been working for WWE, it’s going to be really cool.”
If she does well, it’s not hard to imagine this could very well lead to a full time gig. It’s a big assignment, too, considering this will be the go home episode leading into SummerSlam.
