As we’ve been reminded several times over the past few days, Nikki and Brie Bella are a lightning rod for wrestling opinions.
Love them or hate them, they’ve made an indelible impression on the wrestling business. Whether it’s winning titles or selling a lifestyle brand, weekly Raw watchers and non-wrestling fans alike know the Arizona natives as faces of the WWE.
It’s been a decade since Brie Bella won her debut on the Aug. 29, 2008 SmackDown, defeating Victoria... with an assist from Nikki, via the strategy which became known as “Twin Magic”:
WWE is celebrating the anniversary of the arrival of the ladies Total Divas fans know as Nicole and Brianna with this video:
It’s a fun compilation of the Bellas making their signature entrance. It’s also got a title which is probably just a tie-in to the company’s “Women’s Evolution” marketing. But it could also be seen as a sign we’ll soon find out what Nikki and Brie will be doing at the Oct. 28 Evolution event, WWE’s first ever all-women pay-per-view (PPV).
They’ve been active on television for a couple of weeks, with Brie mixing it up with both Maryse (who’ll she’ll face in a mixed tag with Daniel Bryan against Miz at Hell in a Cell) and Zelina Vega last night on SmackDown. The Twins have a tag match against The Riott Squad booked for Raw next Monday (Sept. 3) and are in a six-person tag with Ronda Rousey against Ruby Riott’s squad at the Melbourne Super Show-Down in October.
Nikki’s been rumored as a main event opponent for Raw Women’s Champ Rousey at Evolution, but nothing’s been set-up yet.
Happy anniversary, ladies!
