Ronda Rousey’s WWE rollout has gone about as well as anyone could have imagined. Since being introduced at Royal Rumble, she was the most buzzed about star coming out of WrestleMania and has been embraced by the vast majority of the fanbase.
Enough so that when an Alexa Bliss cash-in cost her what looked like a title-winning performance at Money in the Bank, people were pissed.
Since then, Rowdy’s been the one who’s pissed. Even the return of her friend Natalya, back on our screens for the first time since the death of her father last week, didn’t break Ronda’s game face as she marched to the ring to face Bliss for the Raw Women’s Championship at SummerSlam on Sun., Aug. 19.
Bliss dodged Rousey’s attempts to charge her early, and even had to be asked back into the ring for a “lesson on how to be champion”. Ronda sat down and let Alexa put her in a rear chinlock, and quickly countered and reversed it into a throw.
A short time after that (that was all Rousey), the armbar was successfully applied, and we have a new Raw Women’s Champ.
She’d go on to celebrate with Natty, the Bella twins and hug her husband Travis Browne at ringside.
