WWE SummerSlam 2018 results: Roman Reigns finally bests Brock Lesnar, wins Universal championship

@WWE

WWE put the latest Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns match in the main event spot at tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 19, 2018) SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The Universal title was on the line. The crowd was hostile and uncooperative.

Still, they were there and this was what everyone came to see.

What would they do? Would it finally be the end?

Well, as it turns out, Braun Strowman hit the ring before the bell and made it clear he was going to face the winner. “I refuse to be a coward and cash this in when my opponent’s back is turned. I am the monster among men and I do things face-to-face.” But he wasn’t making it a triple threat. He was going to wait.

The match started, still one-on-one, and Reigns came out with heavy artillery, Superman Punch after Superman Punch, then a Spear and another and on the last one, Lesnar locked in a guillotine choke. Reigns got out with a slam, then they did the same spot.

It was gnarly up to this point.

Then, Suplex City

“You both suck” chants rang out. But those same fans were buying into everything Brock and Roman were doing.

Reigns went for a dive that Lesnar side stepped, leading to Strowman getting taken out. When he got up and went to follow up, “The Beast” grabbed him up and hit an F-5 on the outside. Then he blasted him with the briefcase, chucked said case all the way up the ramp, and then blasted him with a chair.

When he got back in, still holding the chair, Reigns hit a spear, the chair landed on Brock’s face, and that was FINALLY enough for a three count.

The new Universal champion.

Yessir.
