WWE SummerSlam 2018 results: The Miz just beat Daniel Bryan ... with a punch to the face

The match we were sure we were never going to get until we got it, The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan, finally happened at tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

After many years of waiting to punch Miz in the face, Bryan got his chance to do so here. Boy, did it feel good when got his offense in too.

Then again, there were also dueling chants at one point. “Daniel Bryan” chants were countered with “Let’s go Miz.” And, for his part, Miz got a lot of offense in throughout the match. If you thought this was going to be all about Bryan getting that cathartic release of just eating Miz alive, that’s not at all what happened.

If anything, Miz showed he could hang with Bryan in a wrestling match.

That’s not to say Bryan didn’t have his moments, because he certainly did:

As the match went on, it felt like the crowd wasn’t as into it as one might think for a feud like this. Perhaps the length of the show was the issue.

Late, Miz ended up next to his wife, Maryse, in the front row. She appeared to pass him something, like some brass knuckles, and he used those to hit Bryan during a suicide dive to the outside. That was enough to get the pinfall.

The Miz defeats Daniel Bryan.

With a punch to the face.
