The New Day’s reward for winning a four-team tournament over the past few weeks on SmackDown Live was a shot at the Bludgeon Brothers and the tag team titles at tonight’s (Sun., Aug. 19, 2018) WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view (PPV) from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Coming into this match, Harper & Rowan had not lost in nearly a year.
Now they have.
But it didn’t cost them the titles.
They worked a fairly physical match, with Big E in particular going off, such as:

The story was that the Bludgeon Brothers are incredibly powerful but New Day kept surviving, much to the surprise of the tag champions. When Rowan attacked Kofi Kingston on the outside, the tide seemed to turn. Woods matched E’s effort by going all out with a limit breaker:

It looked like New Day was going to win, and that’s when Rowan came in with one of the hammers and caused a disqualification.
Lame.
