Tonight's show kicks off SummerSlam weekend for WWE from Barclays Center, and it's offering up a stacked card.
All the brands titles are on the line - or at least all the ones associated with this branch of Triple H’s global “territory”. Johnny Gargano’s war with Tommaso Ciampa now involves the NXT Championship, and Johnny Wrestling will try to avenge his loss in Chicago by claiming the belt for the first time.
Ricochet will be trying to take the North American Championship from the only man who’s ever held it, Adam Cole. Cole’s Undisputed ERA mates will trying to maintain their grip on the Tag Titles against the team who beat them in London earlier this summer, Moustache Moutain. And a rivalry which began at last year’s Mae Young Classic finale gives us our Women’s Championship bout, as Shayna Baszler defends against Kairi Sane.
Plus, EC3 and Velveteen Dream will stop talking and fight!

The show opens with a video talking about tonight’s show in the context of history being written by the winners.
Moustache Mountain (Trent Seven & Tyler Bate) vs. Undisputed ERA (Kyle O’Reilly & Roderick Strong) (c) (NXT Tag Team Championship)
Seven and Strong to start, clearing the aprons but Roddy gets the edge and O’Reilly tags in to pummel Trent in the corner. Bate with the save, Strong runs him off, double whips reversed, the champions stop themselves short and we’ve got a slugfest in the middle of the ring culminating with stereo Bop and Bang! To the floor, Seven and KOR back in, Trent knocks him down and tags Tyler in.
Fireman’s carry front slam into a senton atomico, only two! O’Reilly take’s Bate’s leg out from under him, tags made, Seven with a step-up senton for a nearfall. Big right hand, whip, Roddy floats over, big back suplex backbreaker connects! Drawing him up, tag to Kyle, in with chest kicks, Muay Thai knees, roundhouse kick, tag back to Strong. Putting boots to Trent, taking him into the corner for chops, tag back to KOR.
Snapmare to a knee drop, only two, probing kicks, Seven rises with steel his back, firing chops off, snap DDT, tag to Tyler! Bate snaps a Frankensteiner off on Roddy and sends him running with a dropkick! Diving uppercut, charge into a boot, Strong tags in, fireman’s carry, double leg... TYLER WITH THE DOUBLE SWING! Roddy slips out, upkicks, Kyle with a sleeper hold, Bate flags but doesn’t fail and German suplexes Strong with O’Reilly on his back!
Charging uppercuts corner to corner, Strong wipes him out with a lariat, into repeated stomps, taking him in the corner to club him and he tags KOR in. Short-arm punch to a shoulder armbreaker, hammerlock with knees to the back, elbows and knees, sliding knee off the ropes and raining palm strikes down on the younger man’s head! Front chancery, tag to Roddy, big chop, quick tag back to Kyle, inverted Demolition Decapitation... NOPE!
Taking Bate’s back, crossface shots, tag to Strong, off the ropes with a boot to the face, gutwrench into the Canadian backbreaker rack, bending Tyler in half! Shift to a one-shoulder Gory Special, walking him around the ring, Bate slips out and O’Reilly tags in. Shinbreaker, club to the knee, off the ropes to kick his leg out of his leg and Kyle grabs an ankle lock!
Shift to a figure four ankle lock, snapping it to the mat to damage the knee, the champs do quick tags and brutalize Tyler’s knees! Bate manages to upkick Roddy over the ropes and to the floor, crawling, desperate, KOR comes in and gets low-bridged to the floor himself! Strong catches up to him, Tyler hops for the tag but Kyle yanks Trent from the apron!
Tag made anyway, Seven in like a house afire with chops and a big back body drop! Suicide dive takes O’Reilly out! Charging lariats corner to corner,,, ONE-ARM RELEASE POWERBOMB! DRAGON SUPLEX! SUPLEX LIFT DROPPED INTO AN EMERALD FLOWSION! Trent straightens up, looking for Seven Stars, Roddy counters with a forearm! Tag to Kyle, chest kick... BRAINBUSTER CAN’T PUT HIM AWAY!
Drawing Seven up, knee to the midsection, tag to Strong, whip-assisted knee, huge turning back suplex... just a nearfall! Looking for Ax and Smash, Tyler in with a Koppu kick, Roddy takes him out, double leg into Stronghold on Trent! KOR gets a triangle choke on Bate to hold him off! Tyler hosses him up... AND POWERBOMBS O’REILLY INTO HIS OWN PARTNER TO BREAK STRONGHOLD UP!
Bate takes in, big palm strikes, catch a boot, uppercut, catch Kyle and he exploder suplexes him into Roddy before taking flight over the top to wipe both guys out with a suicide dive! Huge lariat on Roddy, back inside, Tyler Driver... NOT ENOUGH! Both men spent, Tyler looking around to figure out what he’s got left in his arsenal and he climbs the turnbuckles.
Strong cuts him off, gets under him, thinking back suplex but he gets knocked down with elbows. Kyle puts Bate’s leg into the post and knocks him down and Roddy capitalizes with a shinbreaker into the turnbuckles! KOR tags in, clears Trent from the apron, roll-through into the inverted heel hook on Tyler’s injured leg! Wrenching in on it, tearing at the ligaments in the ankle and Strong pulls them back into the center of the ring!
Trent’s got the towel but he’s agonizing over whether to throw it in! HE THROWS IT INTO THE CROWD! Back body drop takes a charging Roderick out! Tag made... SEVEN STARS CAN’T WIN MOUSTACHE MOUNTAIN THE TAG TITLES! Tag back to Bate, Argentine backbreaker rack, fending Strong off... DIVING KNEE / BURNING HAMMER COMBINATION... KYLE O’REILLY FINDS THE WILL TO KICK OUT!
Trent looks for the Dragon suplex to follow it up, Bate off the ropes for the rebound lariat but Roddy catches him with a jumping knee! KOR with the chop block as Seven turns to take him out...
Undisputed ERA win by pinfall with their Total Elimination to retain the NXT Tag Team Championship.
WAR RAIDERS ATTACK THE CHAMPIONS AS THEY CELEBRATE! THEY RUN RODDY OFF, POP-UP POWERSLAM ON KYLE... HANSON DIVES ON STRONG! Getting O’Reilly up for it... FALLOUT! War Raiders celebrate over the carnage they’ve created.
Commentary reminds us of the ongoing investigation as to who attacked Aleister Black.
We cut to Johnny Gargano pacing in the locker room.
EC3 vs. Velveteen Dream
Circling, collar and elbow, EC3 shoving Dream away into the corner. Another shove, closing in, warned off, dumping Velveteen to the floor and Carter throws him back inside only for VD to go for a wristlock. Reversed to an arm wringer, welevated knucklelock and Dream clatters to the mat! Another one, into a top wristlock, VD cuts him off with a knee, big uppercut, pass to the corner, whip reversed and Velveteen gets caught up in the turnbuckles.
Ethan with repeated kicks to the midsection, eventually crotching VD and bouncing him up and down on it! Big right hand, another one when Dream tries to return, but on the third try Velveteen gets a shoulder block and a sunset flip attempt. Hip swivel, blocked, off the ropes, duck the first two but EC3 catches him with the third! Front kick to counter the back body drop, Carter gets a body slam, off the ropes with a big elbow drop!
Cactus Clothesline next, fighting on the ramp... VELVETEEN DREAM HITS THE SQUARE COMPASS DDT ON THE RAMP! Throwing Ethan into the post, breaking the count, Dream throws him into the ring but the cover comes up empty! Headed up top... DIVING BRAIN CHOP! Hot Shot follows, putting EC3 into the corner for punches as referee Eddie Orengo warns Velveteen to back off lest he be disqualified.
To the apron, snapping Carter’s neck over the top rope, bringing him in for the hangman’s neckbreaker... NOPE! Standing neck crank, big forearm, going for a Rude Awakening but EC3 hosses his way out of it! Big knee connects and Dream gets the neckbreaker this time! Dumping Ethan to the floor like a sack of flour, VD follows after and smashing his face into the announce desk over and over!
Bottle of water, splashing it across him before having a drink, tossing Carter back inside, EC3 tries to cut him off but Dream counters with a DDT! Slugging it out in the middle of the ring, to the corner, Ethan explodes out with a lariat and follows with big jabs and a right hook! Stinger splash into a running neckbreaker, fireman’s carry but VD reverses to a pin!
Jockeying for position, shot off, superkick caught, headlock driver... NOPE! Catching a boot, but Velveteen cracks a right hand across his face! Rage in his eyes, EC3 hammers away at him, but he gets hit with a double thrust to the throat! Dream climbs up top, Ethan cuts him off with a press slam! Carter up top now, diving crossbody but VD rolls through for a nearfall!
Big slap, Carter with a powerbomb to follow it, he lets out a primal scream and hoists him up for a sit-out powerbomb... NOT ENOUGH! Stalking after VD, setting him up top, trading shots in the corner... SUPERPLEX! EC3 clutches his injured neck as he crawls for the cover... only two! To the apron, fireman’s carry, Dream floats over and catches him with a superkick! DREAM VALLEY DRIVER... NO GOOD!
Anothr fireman’s carry, Carter slips out, big German suplex into a bridge, only a nearfall! Wristlock, dragging Velveteen to the apron, Dream gets him up... DREAM VALLEY DRIVER ON THE APRON! HE CLIMBS... PURPLE RAINMAKER ON THE APRON! IT’S OVER!
Velveteen Dream wins by pinfall with Purple Rainmaker on the apron.
MATT RIDDLE IS IN THE FRONT ROW!
We cut to see Tommaso Ciampa somewhere in the back coveting his title belt.
Adam Cole (c) vs. Ricochet (NXT North American Championship)
Cole jawing at Ricochet, they circle, collar and elbow, King of Flight with a hammerlock, reversed, roll through escape into a wristlock. Adam does the same, Ricochet reverses again, and Cole puts him into the ropes to force a break. Whip, up and over, handspring, barely dodging a kick from Adam! Cole with a waistlock, side headlock, sliding low when the King of Flight goes to shoot him off.
Reversed momentarily, Adam suckers him right back into the side headlock, arm wringer, whip, up and over and right back into the headlock! Shot off, shoulder block, Bay Bay, off the ropes, drop down, leapfrog, duck a lariat, drop down, big dropkick sends Cole to the floor! Ricochet runs the ropes, big handspring fakeout to taunt the leader of Undisputed!
Jockeying for position on the apron, slingshot back in, sidestep the charge and Adam dumps him off the top and to the floor with a shove! Throwing him hard into the barricade, dumping him into the ring, into mounted punches as Ricochet covers up. Sitout neckbreaker, only two, and he tells the King of Flight he’s not special over and over, which only serves to fire him up.
Off the ropes, Cole gets a fireman’s carry neckbreaker onto the knee for two! Knee to the back into a reverse chinlock, Ricochet fights out with punches, catches himself in the ropes on a whip, big back elbow, doulbe boots in the corner, roll-through into the dropkick and Adam’s on the floor again! Off the ropes... CORKSCREW TOPE CON GIRO!
Throwing Cole back inside, squaring him up in the corner, charging uppercuts, big Tiger feint kick, springboard uppercut... NOPE! Fireamn’s carry, Adam slips out, catches a back elbow, Ricochet charges in with a shoulder thrust, enzuigiri, springboard moonsault, lands on his feet, standing shooting star press... CORKSCREW MOONSAULT CAN’T PUT THE NORTH AMERICAN CHAMPION AWAY!
Big chops and punches, arm wringer, whip reversed, handspring... COUNTERED INTO A LUNGBLOWER FOR TWO! Cole looking to follow it up with a suplex-based maneuver, maybe thinking Last Shot, blocked, clubbing blows, the King of Flight floats over and clocks him with a hard forearm! To the apron, another right hand, Ricochet springboards in and catches a superkick!
Rolling elbow! Squaring him up, quebrada... COUNTERED WITH A SUPERKICK TO THE NECK! LAST SHOT! RICOCHET LIVES! Ricochet slow to rise, Adam runs the ropes, going for the knee to the face but he gets rolled up for a nearfall! Slugging it out, Cole with an enzuigiri, big jumping knee from the King of Flight, boots on boots, collapsing into a pin with Adam on top... NOT ENOUGH!
Ricochet dazed and on his knees but he has the werewithal to duck the knee... POISON FRANKENSTEINER! Dragging himself up the ropes... Adam Cole rolls to the apron on the far side! RICOCHET WITH THE DRAGON LEE RUNNING FRANKENSTEINER OVER THE ROPES AND TO THE FLOOR! PERCHED ON HIGH... 630 SENTON! IT’S OVER!
Ricochet wins by pinfall with the 630 senton, winning the NXT North American Championship.
We see Mark Henry and Kevin Owens in the front row.
Kairi Sane vs. Shayna Baszler (c) (NXT Women’s Championship)
Baszler with a waistlock, Sane reverses, reversed to a hammerlock, Kairi rolls through into a heel hook, Shayna grabs her own and the challenger is forced to the ropes to break! Sane going low, caught with a gutwrench, she picks the leg into a bridging pin anyway, schoolboy comes up empty, Stretch Muffler but Baszler shrugs her off! Slugging it out forearm for forearm, whip, duck a lariat, big headscissors takeover from Kairi!
Baseball slide knocks the champ to the floor, diving lariat, throwing her back inside, big chops against the ropes but Shayna takes her leg out from under her with a dropkick! Repeated stomps to the ankle, probing kicks, Sane drags herself up the ropes as the champion continues to attack her. Low bridge to the apron, big forearms, charging in, sidestepped and Baszler yanks her leg over the middle rope and snaps it down!
Mounted punches, hammering Kairi’s face in, kneeling toehold, trying to wrench her leg off! Setting her foot up with the toes pointed into the mat... STOMP TO THE ACHILLES TENDON! Wrenching her leg over the middle rope, mocking the march, running kick to the hamstring! Disdainful kicks, Kairi rises up ramrod straight and lets a primal scream out, going forehead-to-forehead!
Shrugging off forearms, big palm strikes, forcing the champ to cover up! Big spinning backfist, pushing through, into the corner, marching for the sliding elbow... NOPE! Up top, Baszler cuts her off with a kick, clubbing away... AVALANCHE KARELIN LIFT! Slugging it out on their knees, rising to their feet, Shayna kicks her leg out from under her, off the ropes, wicked knee to the face... NO!
Suplex lift, Sane slips out, off the ropes... SPEAR! Headed up top... diving elbow drop to the back! Up again... Baszler rolls to the floor! Kairi turns, diving crossbody to the floor! Back inside, perched up top, giving a salute, diving elbow... SHAYNA BASZLER WILL NOT LET HER CHAMPIONSHIP SLIP FROM HER HANDS JUST YET! Following it up with the Anchor, Baszler reverses into the Kirifuda Clutch!
Sane struggling, fighting, inches from the ropes, reaching... SHE’S GOT THEM! Leg pick, hamstring kicks, Shayna stalks around her, spinning toehold into a kneebar! Shift to a heel hook, Kairi screaming agony but she reverses back into an Indian deathlock... BASZLER GETS THE ROPES! NO SAFETY ON THE APRON, THE ANCHOR IS IN AND JESSIKA CARR COUNTS!
Breaking in time, Sane gets the Alabama Slam and heads up top once more... THE KNEES ARE UP! RIGHT INTO THE KIRIFUDA CLUTCH BUT KAIRI REVERSES...
Kairi Sane wins by pinfall, reversing the Kirifuda Clutch to a pin to win the NXT Women’s Championship.
We get a hype reel for NXT UK and are informed that it’s “coming soon.”
Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa (c) (NXT Championship Last Man Standing Match)
Gargano attacking at the bell, putting boots to Ciampa in the corner! Tommaso slips out to get his entrance gear off and comes back in to a flurry of punches! Champ gets a knee off, off the ropes, Lou Thesz Press into mounted punches! Mounted punches in the corner, windmilling on Ciampa at length! Passed to the apron, he manages to trip Tommaso up, comes back in, floats over Angel’s Wings, pass to the floor, off the ropes, baseball slide dodged, Ciampa puts him into the steel steps!
Tearing the top step off, forearm to the kidneys, Johnny manages to throwing him into the barricade and then again on the other side! Gargano slides the steps over, left hands, staggering the champion as they amble down the aisle, throwing him into the barricade once more for good measure before TEARING UP THE RINGSIDE PADDING TO EXPOSE THE BARE CONCRETE!
Jockeying for position, Tommaso digs his fingers into Johnny’s eyes for some breathing room! Swinging him over the barricade in a front chancery, knees, DDT blocked and Gargano rams him into the ringpost! CANNONBALL OFF THE APRON! HE THROWS CIAMPA OVER THE ANNOUNCE DESK! Desultory clearing of the table, Johnny Wrestling heads atop it, drawing the Sicilian Psychopath up with him but he reverses... AIR RAID CRASH THROUGH THE INTACT AND UNCLEARED SPANISH TABLE!
Referee Eddie Orengo begins counting, Ciampa up early but it takes Gargano to the count of eight! Tommaso gets a chair and brings it in with him, but Johnny’s able to meet him with lefts, he goes for the chair and gets cracked in the nose with a boot! Stomps in the corner, Ciampa squares him up for the running knee! A second knee, he sandwiches the chair in front of Gargano’s face but Johnny gets up and whacks him in the braced knee with the chair!
Thrust to the midsection, waffling it over his back, stabbing him in the gut and provoking a count that Ciampa beats with time to spare. Up on his shoulder, Tommaso slips out, sleeper hold, suffocating the air out of Gargano’s lunches and using the ropes for totally legal pressure before breaking for the count... JOHNNY GETS TO HIS FEET AT SIX! Right back in with the sleeper, back down to the mat, Gargano gets to his feet and rams him into the corners until he gets the break.
Ciampa reapplies standing on the second rope, Johnny reverses... LAWN DART INTO A CHAIR! Orengo counting, Tomasso up at six and Gargano goes looking for plunder. He pulls a table out and sets it up on the floor over the exposed concrete before setting up a second table inverted atop it! Back in the ring, Tommaso with rolling German suplexes, three in total, before hammering him with the chair over and over again!
PROJECT CIAMPA! A SECOND! A THIRD! Ciampa takes a seat as Eddie Orengo counts, smugly counting along but Johnny’s up at nine... SUPERKICK! Going punch for punch, both men spent to their core, Gargano gets the roll-through enzuigiri, charges in, up and over to the apron, Superman Spear, Angel’s Wings countered! Enzuigiri, duck a lariat, German suplex, Johnny rolls through, rolling solebutt and a German suplex of his own!
Stereo lariats, both men down and out and referee Eddie Orengo counts... UP AT ONE! Trading hard shots, lariats connect and both guys are down again! Ciampa up first at seven, Gargano at nine, slingshot to the apron, superkick connects... TOMMASO SIDESTEPS THE CANNONBALL! Throwing him into the barricade, Ciampa brings him up the steps... ANGEL’S WINGS ON THE STEPS!
GARGANO UP AT NINE, HANGING OFF THE BARRICADE TO KEEP HIMSELF UPRIGHT! Disdainful kicks, the Sicilian Psychopath heads under the apron, smashing Johnny Wrestling’s face into the steel steps before heading into the ring... HE’S DISMANTLING THE RING, PEELING THE PADDED BACK TO EXPOSE THE RAW WOODEN BOARDS! JOHNNY BLASTS HIM WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER! HE’S GOT A CRUTCH AND HE TAKES CIAMPA OUT WITH IT!
TO THE FLOOR, LITERALLY BREAKING THE CRUTCH OVER HIS BACK! Back inside, Tommaso catches him in the ropes, shades of Chicago, but Gargano fights back and hangs onto the ropes! Ciampa waves bye bye but Johnny clocks him with an enzuigiri! SLINGSHOT DDT ON THE EXPOSED BOARDS! Gargano to his feet first, referee Eddie Orengo counting... CIAMPA ROLLS TO THE FLOOR ON HIS FEET AT NINE! SUICIDE DIVE CUTS HIM OFF!
Back inside, but Tom rolls out the far side, so Johnny dives on him again! Left hands... A BASEMENT SUPERKICK TAKES OUT A MEMBER OF THE PRODUCTION CREW AND CIAMPA PUTS GARGANO’S FACE INTO A MONITOR TO CAPITALIZE! RUNNING KNEE THROUGH A CHAIR DESTROYS THE TIMEKEEPER’S BARRICADE! HE PILES WRECKAGE AND MEN ON TOP OF JOHNNY WRESTLING TO KEEP HIM DOWN!
Orengo counts... JOHNNY GARGANO LIVES AT THE COUNT OF SEVEN AND RISES TO HIS FEET AT NINE! Ciampa gets a pair of handcuffs from under the ring! He tries to handcuff Johnny but Gargano pulls him into the ringpost and stops him! In the ring with the handcuffs, he locks Ciampa’s left up but a back elbow stops him from getting the right! To the apron, on his shoulders, Johnny fights out, fireman’s carry of his own escaped, Tommaso with a big forearm, float over!
Trading forearms, Ciampa staggered... SUPERKICK PUTS HIM THROUGH THE TABLES! Eddie counts... CIAMPA UP AT NINE WITH THE CRUTCH SUPPORTING HIM! Staring holes in each other, trying to figure out where this fight is going, Tommaso staggers up the ramp, forcing Johnny to follow and he kicks the crutch out from under him for mounted punches! HE RAMS CIAMPA INTO THE LED BOARDS!
GARGANO ESCAPE ON THE STAGE, THE CHAMP IS TAPPING TO NO AVAIL! Dragging him around by the cuff... HE CUFFS THE CHAMPION TO SOME EQUIPMENT ON THE STAGE! SMASHING HIS FACE INTO THE STEEL GRATE, SUPERKICK CONNECTS! Begging forgiveness, but Johnny tells him he’s too late and clocks him again! Another superkick! Still begging, screaming apologies, referee Orengo counts but Tommaso gets to his feet around six before kneeling and restarting the count!
Gargano takes his kneepad down... RUNNING KNEE TO THE FACE BUT HIS MOMENTUM CARRIES HIM THROUGH INTO SOME ROAD CASES ON A TABLE! BOTH MEN DOWN AND OUT, EDDIE ORENGO COUNTS... CIAMPA GETS UP AT NINE! JOHNNY’S KNEE WON’T HOLD! IT’S OVER!
Tommaso Ciampa wins, getting up at nine and retaining the NXT Championship.
Commentary immediately informs us after recaps that Johnny Gargano dislocated his knee.
Ciampa holds the title high and demands referee Eddie Orengo raise his hand.
Johnny is helped to the back by trainers.
