Samoa Joe has been fighting an uphill battle from the minute he sat down to even talk about coming to WWE, as indicated early in the above documentary on his journey from the night after WrestleMania 34 to SummerSlam. He outright says that he was told Vince McMahon probably wasn’t going to bring him up to the main roster.
He made it, of course, but there have been many bumps in the road. He missed both WrestleMania 33 and WrestleMania 34. He felt the move to SmackDown Live from Monday Night Raw was bittersweet because he had some unfinished business but he’s got new life on the blue brand. That new life has led him here, to one of the biggest events of the year, challenging AJ Styles for the WWE championship.
The above “WWE Chronicle” is the typically excellent work we’ve come to expect from their production team. It’s long but worth the time it takes to watch it.
