Minutes ago, WWE tweeted the following bit of promotion for the upcoming episode of Raw, coming our way Mon., July 23 from Cincinnati:
BREAKING: Commissioner @StephMcMahon will appear LIVE this Monday on #RAW to deliver a historic announcement!
— WWE (@WWE) July 20, 2018
That leaves plenty to the imagination, so let’s start guessing.
‘Historic’ will immediately take the cynical among us (* raises hand *) to the conclusion this is likely going to have something to do with the women’s roster. WWE loves to send the heir to the throne out to ensure hers is the face the public associates with their admittedly admirable promotion of women’s wrestling. The timing coincides with the rumors of a pay-per-view (PPV) or WWE Network special made up entirely of women’s matches, so that’s something to consider. Or Stephanie McMahon could give the Sasha Banks/Bayley clusterf*** romance(?) feud storyline a direction by announcing the creation of a tag team title for the women.
The Billion Dollar Princess could also keep herself in the middle of Ronda Rousey’s push and callback to their WrestleMania rivalry by announcing herself as a special guest referee of Ronda Rousey vs. Alexa Bliss in a show-closing Raw Women’s Championship match at SummerSlam.
Sticking with kayfabe, since Steph is listed by her storyline title “commissioner”, she might be coming to fire General Manager Kurt Angle for... any number of dumb things he’s done lately. The Constable is ready to take the reins.
We’ll find out in a couple days. In the meantime, give us your guesses below.
