SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match
Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. Team Hell No
Daniel Bryan completely dominated Big Cass at Backlash and Money in the Bank and was finally ready to pursue the WWE Championship.
He would have to earn that championship match the hardest way possible, by entering a Gauntlet Match first and outlasting incredibly skilled wrestlers such as Big E, Samoa Joe, and Rusev. Miz was in the match too.
Bryan impressively defeated Big E and Samoa Joe, but then the Bludgeon Brothers stormed the arena and unleashed a brutal assault on the leader of the Yes Movement, unfairly ending his run in the Gauntlet Match and ruining his chance to fight for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules.
Bryan got his hands on Harper in the SmackDown main event on June 26 and it culminated when the Yes Lock was applied and Harper was about to tap out. But of course Rowan caused a disqualification right at that moment, and the hammer brothers were then determined to bludgeon Daniel into a pile of skin and bones.
And then the fire returned. Kane made a shocking return to SmackDown to save the day, as he and Bryan cleared the Bludgeon Bros from the ring with a chokeslam and Busaiku Knee. Kane opened his arms for a hug as the crowd went wild chanting “Yes!”, and after some initial hesitation, Daniel Bryan passionately hugged his former partner. Team Hell No was reunited!
Paige immediately announced that Team Hell No would be fighting against the Bludgeon Brothers for the SmackDown tag tag titles at Extreme Rules on July 15.
One week later, the Usos didn’t appreciate that Team Hell No stepped right over them for a title shot simply by hugging each other. So Paige gave the Usos a chance to be added to the championship match at Extreme Rules, but Team Hell No pinned the Usos to stop that from happening.
Then on the July 10 episode of SmackDown, SaniTY joined the fray by ambushing Team Hell No during MizTV. This led to a 5-on-5 main event tag match where Team Hell No once again ended the night victorious. Daniel Bryan then shocked Kane and the world by actually demonstrating the ability to control the fires of hell.
That’s where things stand as Extreme Rules approaches. Team Hell No has all the momentum in the world right now. Bryan has diagrams, Kane loves N’Sync, and it’s hard to see how Harper and Rowan can stop them. But the Miz did plant the seeds that Bryan cannot trust Kane, and there is plenty of video evidence from 2014 in support of that point. Daniel Bryan knows that he can’t 100% trust Kane, but Kane has sworn that he will always have Bryan’s back. We’ll see if that’s the case at Extreme Rules.
