Raw Tag Team Championship match
Deleters of Worlds (c) vs. The B-Team
Can Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel’s Cinderella run take them all the way to gold (or red-and-silver, if you want to be all literal about it)?
The Road to Extreme Rules
Turns out all it took for The Miztourage to reach their full potential was for Miz to get sent to SmackDown without them.
In the 2018 Superstar Shake-Up, that’s exactly what happened. And after a few weeks of desperately searching for a new star to hitch their wagon to, Axel and Dallas started...
... winning?
And they kept right on winning, including a Battle Royal which made them #1 contenders!
That was about six weeks ago. After that, WWE stalled for time to get past Money in the Bank, a pay-per-view (PPV) card which didn’t have room for the recently-christened B-Team and reigning champs Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt, aka Deleters of Worlds. To stretch things out a little longer, cover for Bray’s recovery from an auto accident and try to convince a few more fans the perennial enhancement talent had a chance to win the straps, Hardy spent a few weeks coming up short against Axel and Dallas.
The Woken One and The Consumer of Terrestrial Entities decided they’d had enough after Bo eeked out a win over Matt this past Monday, however, and they made a statement heading into Extreme Rules:
What’s at stake?
Beyond the belts, it’s probably not too hyperbolic to say these teams’ immediate future’s hang in the balance - at least if Vince McMahon decides to call for the upset.
A B-Team win could change the narrative for Dallas and Axel, which would be pretty remarkable considering they were pulled from the scrap heap to serve as cannon fodder for Miz. Even though they almost certainly wouldn’t hold onto the titles for long, it would give fans something to remember them by for the next couple years worth of putting over bigger stars.
It would also signal a pretty rapid fall from prominence for Matt and Bray, just months from Ultimate Deletion and Wyatt’s triumphant return to help The Woken One win The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34. Not that they’d suddenly be jobbers themselves, but losing the belts in their first PPV defense wouldn’t exactly be a vote of confidence.
Delightful news for Deleters of Worlds fans is that probably won’t happen. And for B-Team supporters? We’ll always have this.
