Tonight’s show finds us in NXT’s home base of Full Sail Live for the fourth episode from two nights of taping (spoilers from which are here and here) which will take us all the way to TakeOver: Chicago 2.

Here's what to expect.

The Headliner(s)

In case you missed it, an already compelling program between Velveteen Dream and Ricochet that had taken another interesting turn when Dream attacked and walked out on his partner Ric during their handicap match against Lars Sullivan kicked into overdrive last Wednesday when this happened.

Their match was made official for June 16 a short time later, and the build continued on Twitter. First, Velveteen changed his avatar to a Prince Puma mask (referencing the character Ricochet played on Lucha Underground). Then $#!+ got real.

Here are the choicest cuts...

Patrick Clark being a wrestling prodigy is a well-covered topic. His understanding of the heel’s role (regardless of how fans cheer for him, that’s the part he’s playing) of making his opponent look good is remarkable however. The way he emphasizes that not only in the ring, but in all elements of the performance, is remarkable.

Which isn’t to say that Ricochet, or Aleister Black before him, hasn’t stepped up his game considerably. But it’s really fun to watch not just one star rise, but two.

Especially when it involves excellent Twitter banter in addition to great on-screen moments.

The Title Scene

Dream’s last long-term dance partner, NXT Champion Aleister Black, picked up his new #1 contender thanks to Dream’s betrayal of Ricochet a couple weeks back. Lars Sullivan built on his handicap match win by getting the TakeOver title shot from General Manager William Regal, then destroying the champ. We’ll see if Black looks to answer for that in the two weeks before Chicago.

The first match made for June 16 was for the Tag Team Titles, as their role in a trios win over Undisputed ERA earned Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan a shot at Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly and their straps. Burch looks to continue their momentum when he goes one-on-one with Roddy tonight.

Women’s Champ Shayna Baszler doesn’t officially have a match for TakeOver yet. But after her win over Dakota Kai last week, she also doesn’t have her belt. That’s because Nikki Cross made off with it after winning a faux-match she called for after preventing The Queen of Spades from choking Kai out completely. WWE.com’s official preview is teasing a response from Shayna this episode.

There are two other champioships not currently booked for Chicago. Pete Dunne at least knows his next United Kingdom Title defense will be in London on June 19 (and on WWE Network June 26) against the winner of the UK Championship Tournament. North American Champion Adam Cole has kept busy with The ERA’s rivalry with Dunne, and Lorcan and Burch, but hasn’t had much in the way of a formal feud for his new belt. That doesn’t look likely to change until after June 16.

Other stuff to keep an eye on:

- After Johnny Gargano defied Regal’s orders and came to Full Sail last week, Tommaso Ciampa is being advertised as being on hand to address their upcoming Street Fight at Allstate Arena.

- The best here, the best there, the best anywhere denies being upset, but Gargano may have picked up a future rival when he barged in midway through EC3’s trilogy match.

- Lacey Evans and Kairi Sane each have one win over the other, and they’ll be looking to break the tie when they face off this week. Could that match main event? It should definitely give us an idea about who the next #1 contender for the Women’s Title might be.

- Cutting corners has finally put TM61 on the winning track, and Nick Miller and Shane Thorne will be looking to keep the streak alive on this episode... probably by continuing to be jerks.
