Shawn Michaels says he ‘would take a look at’ wrestling one more match

WWE.com

It’s a week for about-faces. First John Cena wants to be a dad. Now, after years of shooting down inquiries with “aww shucks, I’m too old” evasions, Shawn Michaels is telling Sky Sports he’s open to the proverbial one more match.

But don’t get too excited yet.

The Heartbreak Kid may have had a change of heart - he’s watching the man who retired him pick up new dates even though Undertaker is older than him, after all. But even if it does happen, Michaels is still tempering expectations:

“I think it’s one of those that you would never say never about and if it was just for a one-off then it’s something that I would take a look at. It would have to be done the right way and just for one match rather than something that ran for longer. It could be possible but people would have to accept they wouldn’t be getting the Showstopper, Mr. WrestleMania, and that I’m 52 years old now.”

What’s “the right way”? Well, that’s where a lot of fans, and maybe even a few wrestlers, might be disappointed:

“If it was the Shawn Michaels of 10 years ago I would love to have gotten in the ring with so many of the guys that are competing today. AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan would be good, and then there’s the guys in NXT too. Someone like a Johnny Gargano would be fantastic.

But for a one-off match now, I’d need it to be a tag-team match where Hunter and I can just do a few crotch chops and have some fun.”

What do you think, gang? Would you be down for a D-X reunion match? Or would you rather just leave the memories alone if we can’t have HBK vs. The Phenomenal One?
