The next pay-per-view (PPV) on the WWE schedule is the Extreme Rules event set to take place on Sun., July 15, 2018, at the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This is supposed to be the all-gimmick show on the calendar but they’ve more or less dropped that.
We’re three weeks out and the card looks like this:
- AJ Styles (c) vs. Rusev (WWE championship)
Oh yes, Rusev is finally getting his shot at a major title. This comes after he won a Gauntlet match on SmackDown this past week thanks to The Bludgeon Brothers and The Miz taking care of Daniel Bryan, who had taken out Samoa Joe and Big E.
- Roman Reigns vs. Bobby Lashley vs. TBA vs. TBA vs. TBA vs. TBA
This will determine who wrestles Brock Lesnar for the Universal championship, presumably at SummerSlam. Reigns and Lashley were given entry because they “deserve” it, according to Raw General Manager Kurt Angle, and WWE has been polling fans on who else should be put in the match.
- Alexa Bliss (c) vs. Nia Jax (Raw women’s championship)
Bliss won the title back at Money in the Bank by cashing in the contract she won earlier in the night after Jax had just gone through an entire match — one she was about to lose — against Ronda Rousey. This, then, is Nia’s rematch.
That’s it so far, but television seems to indicated Bryan is going to need a partner to deal with The Bludgeon Brothers, and Asuka could be getting another shot at Carmella’s SmackDown women’s championship. Plus, The B-Team are still owed their Raw tag team title match against The Deleters of Worlds.
