We knew WWE’s return to Madison Square Garden was going to be eventful. Regardless of the status of the relationship between the McMahons and their “home court”, they always try to make trips to The Garden special. It was clear this one wouldn’t be any different when they announced Undertaker and Ronda Rousey well in advance.
MSG has posted a card (which is subject to change, natch) for the July 7 show. My main man Geno Mrosko’s already told you about what they’re promoting for Taker, which feels more or less like it’ll be a “Yay! We get to see five minutes of The Dead Man’s greatest hits!” affair. In other words, a nice treat for the fans in attendance, but probably not likely to fuel further angles... even if The Phenom does wrestle at SummerSlam.
Rousey’s booking, however? Well, it could have all kinds of implications for her ongoing chase of the Raw Women’s Championship:
Now, house show continuity disclaimers are as in effect as “card subject to change” ones. But if there’s anywhere where what happens at a live event can impact the televised product, it’s Madison Square Garden. Ask AJ Styles, or Kevin Owens.
Will the trending-worldwide moment come when Rowdy goes straight after Bliss instead of Jax?
