16 time WWE World Champion John Cena’s non-wrestling schedule continues to fill up.
Joining this year’s Bumblebee and the recently announced team-up with Dwayne Johnson’s production company for The Janson Directive, Deadline says Cena has signed up to join Jackie Chan for a flick with the working title Project X. The Total Bellas star will be replacing Sylvester Stallone, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
It’s the latest step in Cena’s move from a supporting player in comedies to starring roles in action movies. This role will call on him to play a Marine-turned-teacher who leaves his job at an orphanage in Iraq to help Chan’s private security contractor get oil workers out of danger when a Baghdad refinery is attacked.
No filming dates were announced, but seeing as there’s already a director attached (Need For Speed’s Scott Waugh), this could be next on Cena’s schedule.
Does it move a WWE return even farther away?
