WWE Backlash 2018 results: Roman Reigns wins

@WWE

Although no title was on the line, and it was a match featuring wrestlers on separate brands, Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe was the main event of tonight’s (Sun., May 6, 2018) WWE Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The show that happened before it was, to put it nicely, not very good. They were up against it.

Before the match could even start, Joe attacked Reigns and beat him down, putting him through one of the announce desks and throwing him over the other. It was a fight.

Then, the match started, and Joe went to working holds. It was enough to get him booed over Reigns, which may have been the intention. Either way, they worked slow and physical.

When Joe got the Coquina Clutch, Reigns broke it by pushing him into the ropes. When Reigns got the Spear, Joe broke the pinfall attempt by putting his leg on the bottom rope. Not long after, Joe actually got the Coquina Clutch again and put Reigns to sleep. The match, however, was not called and Reigns, somehow, despite the hold still being applied, woke back up and broke said hold.

It wasn’t long after that he hit the spear to get the pinfall and the victory.

Yep.
