After years away from the ring, Daniel Bryan was finally cleared to wrestle once again. But while he has a score to settle with The Miz and dream matches to have with AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and more, his first feud is against ... Big Cass?
That’s right, folks.
Cass, freshly recovered from his knee injury, was sent from Raw to SmackDown Live and his first act was to go after Bryan. Naturally, that led to booking a match between the two at tonight’s (Sun., May 6, 2018) Backlash pay-per-view (PPV) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.
He got a rude awakening.
After talking a bunch of trash and even bringing in a little person to bully on SmackDown, they booked a match where Bryan was the aggressor for most of it and showed that size truly does not matter when you’re simply a better wrestler. Ultimately, he used the Yes! Lock to submit Cass, who tapped quick fast in a hurry.
Of course, he attacked Bryan as he was celebrating just after.
The fans bought into it, chanting “you tapped out” and booing him heavy for laying Bryan out and celebrating over him.
