WWE BACKLASH LIVE BLOG & MATCH COVERAGE

I can’t get back to what I was, Metallica without the drugs, a faith healer without the plant. There’s no home for a hollow man, but me, I’m the lucky lady who gets to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The pre-show opens up with Renee Young introducing her panel, consisting today of David Otunga, Booker T, and Peter Rosenberg. They shill for the WWE Network by running down tonight’s card before tossing backstage to Charly Caruso with a report on how AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura are on opposite sides of the arena tonight to avoid crossing paths ahead of their match.

She says Daniel Bryan is good to compete and said tonight is size vs. skill and height vs. heart. Plus we’re gonna get a sitdown interview with Paige and Kurt Angle where they’ll be answering questions from social media. Video package and panel discussion for Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe follows and then the same for Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass right after that.

We go backstage with the Miztourage as they go over their options for a new buddy to pal around with when Miz rolls up on them and tells them daddy’s home. He couldn’t be prouder of his two sons with the mind games they’ve been playing on Fin Balor and Seth Rollins, and he remembers when he realized they were destined to be his Miztourage, on the set of Marine 5 when two stagehands stole their seats and they beat them up.

Miz recounts all their great memories together and says how excited he is to have the band back together for his match against Seth Rollins tonight. He goes to get going but the Miztourage hold back and Bo Dallas tells him they’re not the supporting cast in his story anymore. The panel discusses our Intercontinental Championship match before moving onto a video package and discussion for the SmackDown Women’s Championship match between Carmella and Charlotte Flair.

The Iconic Duo join them for their discussion, or rather cut it off because Charlotte is “so two-thousand-never”. They remind everyone that they beat Asuka in her first SmackDown match and mock Peter Rosenberg with one of Peyton Royce’s world-famous impressions before moving on.

We go to the locker room where Bayley is getting ready and Sasha Banks rolls up asking if she wanted to talk. Bayley says she’s done fighting and she wants Sasha in her corner tonight. Banks takes offense, asking where she was last week when the Riott Squad were attacking her, and now she’s afraid so she wants help? Bayley says she’s full of herself and she can handle Ruby Riott on her own just like she’s handled Sasha alone before.

She was trying to extend an olive branch and offer an opportunity to get back at the Riott Squad, but if Banks is too pigheaded to accept that, it’s her problem. Sasha tells her no matter how you look at it she’s on her own. Panel discussion of Bobby Lashley & Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn follows, and then video package and panel discussion for Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax.

Kurt Angle and Paige join from elsewhere backstage via satellite. First question is dream opponent for Kurt Angle today, and his answer is Daniel Bryan, who he’s wanted to wrestle for about five years now (and, as an aside from your liveblog lady, nearly happened for PWG back in 2007 but TNA put the kibosh on Angle being booked for them), and Paige is asked the hardest part of being GM and says it’s figuring out who gets what title shot when.

Angle answers the same question and says he’s concerned with getting every superstar an equal opportunity. Asked what match steals the show, Paige says AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and also Carmella vs. Charlotte Flair, and Angle says Samoa Joe vs. Roman Reigns.

Bayley vs. Ruby Riott

Collar and elbow, Bayley grabs a wristlock, shoulder armbreaker, Ruby reverses with a stomp to the foot, to a hammerlock, countered into a side headlock takeover. Riott posts up, escapes with a mat slam, side headlock of her own, shoulder block when the Hugger tries to escape, drop down, combat roll, Bayley with a sunset flip for two! Crucifix comes up empty, schoolboy the same, whip reversed, another pin attempt and Ruby clocks Bayley!

Smashing her into the turnbuckles repeatedly, we see Sasha Banks watching backstage as Bayley comes back with a corner forearm, hard whip, Riott dumps her to the floor but the Hugger is able to set her up in the corner. Riott Squad runs interference, Ruby hits the STO, Bayley hits the floor and we take a break for a house ad.

Back from our break, side headlock has Ruby in control, Bayley breaks free, reverse STO cuts her right off and Riott grabs an armbar and throws a few elbows to the back of the head. Staying on her, rear chinlock, back elbows get the hugger out but Ruby smashes her face into the turnbuckles again over referee Rod Zapata’s admonishments to keep away from Bayley’s hair.

Choking her over the ropes, Sarah Logan gets a cheap shot in that nearly ends the match and again we see Sasha watching with a slightly conflicted expression on her face. Bayley blocks another face smash, puts Ruby into the turnbuckles herself only to take the corner headscissors into the turnbuckle... NOPE! Cravate applied, continuing to put pressure on Bayley’s head and neck, the Hugger finds the will to springboard off the second into a crossbody for a nearfall!

Lariats connect, getting Bayley a head of steam, back suplex follows, whip reversed, duck a lariat, Frankensteiner on Logan when she gets involved! Stunner through the ropes, headed up top, diving elbow drop connects... NOT ENOUGH! Adjusting the ponytail, lying in wait, Riott manages to throw her into Liv Morgan on the apron, wristlock...

Ruby Riott wins by pinfall with the Riott Kick.

The panel shills for the WWE Network one more time and move on to discussing the WWE Championship match to close the preshow out.

The main show opens with a video package highlighting the biggest matches on the show.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. the Miz (WWE Intercontinental Championship)

Collar and elbow, Rollins with a float-over into a hammerlock, spinning it around, wristlock applied, Miz trying to escape but he can’t and so he seeks sanctuary in the ropes to force the break. Miz puts boots to Seth, smashing his face into the turnbuckles, off the ropes, Rollins back with a dropkick, chops in the corner, hard whip, charging corner forearm connects, another whip, but the A-Lister puts him over to the apron and cuts a springboard off with a boot that sends him to the floor!

Following after him, smashing the Architect’s face into the announce table, passing him back inside, Miz tunes up the band for a running boot to the face that gets two. Reverse chinlock applied, gotten out of, whip reversed and Miz cuts him off with a big knee to the midsection. Knee to the back, overhead elbow to the shoulder and back to the reverse chinlock.

Out, off the ropes, schoolboy comes up empty, Miz blocks Avada Kedavra, hits the basement DDT... NOPE! Stomps to the back, choking Rollins over the middle rope and clobbering him with a running boot to the back of the neck. Punches and chops from the champion, whip reversed and Seth hits a sitout facebuster! Pass to the floor, suicide dive connects, back inside, Rollins is ready, springboard lariat, Miz catches into Skull-Crushing Finale but it’s reversed again to a victory roll pin!

Blockbuster follows... NO GOOD! Figure four leglock denied but Miz stays with him, cutting him off on the floor and wiping the champion out hard. Back in, perched up top, diving crossbody caught, Seth rolls through... BLACK HOLE SLAM! NOT ENOUGH! Frog splash... MIZ STAYS IN IT! Rollins tunes the band up, waiting for Miz to get up... and the A-Lister rolls to the safety of the floor!

Seth follows after, back inside, duck a lariat, he clotheslines Miz to the floor, fired up... the suicide dive is cut off with a left hand! DDT blocked, jockeying for position on the apron, chops and forearms, wrist-clutch knee strike... MIZ MOVES AND SETH’S KNEE TAKES THE RINGPOST HARD! In the ring, figure four applied, Miz posting up with his arms to add more pressure!

Rollins reaches and stretches, determination playing across both men’s faces, Seth tries to roll it around... AND HE REVERSES THE PRESSURE OF THE HOLD! Miz screaming agony, but he manages to roll back through... Rollins has the ropes and forces the break! Miz looking to go back to the hold, Rollins kicks him off and they trade chop for punch, slugging it out in the middle of the ring.

The A-Lister kicks his knee out from under him, Skull-Crushing Finale countered into a judo throw, trading kicks, Skull-Crushing Finale countered and recountered, Miz gets it... ROLLINS FINDS THE WILL TO KICK OUT! Miz to the corner, Seth cuts him off, trying to set the superplex up, countered, a kick to the knee sends the Architect to the mat but he runs right back up and hits the superplex!

Miz floats out on the Falcon Arrow, hits a second Skull-Crushing Finale... STILL NOT ENOUGH! Miz drags Rollins up into the corner, to the second rope, thinking about an avalanche Skull-Crushing Finale, blocked, second-rope Blackout, denied, trading pinning predicaments, outta nowhere, BLACKOUT! Seth crawls over...

Seth Rollins wins by pinfall with Blackout, retaining the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

Alexa Bliss vs. Nia Jax

Alexa going right after the knee, trying a sleeper hold, no dice and she goes back to the leg with kicks. Trying the sleeper again, raking the eyes before Jax can throw her off! Nia blocks a forearm and wrenches her arm to the side before dropping her with a headbutt! Stinger Splash into a biel, and then a second set, to the apron, Bliss gets her down on the mat with a kick but can’t put her away.

Taking her to the apron, smashing her face into it, a big right hand, off the ropes, another slap, looking for the DDT but Nia reverses to a fireman’s carry, she slips out and Jax drops her with a lariat! Off the ropes, somersault senton comes up empty! Alexa in with a knee and a slap before smashing the champion’s face into the mat. More strikes, a wicked knee to the face, off the ropes but Nia catches her and hosses her up on her shoulders into a fireman’s carry.

Looking to climb the ropes, Bliss turns it into a sleeper and gets admonished by referee Rod Zapata. Guillotine choke, Jax rams her into the corner to break but Alexa keeps on it, going back to the sleeper hold only to get Iconoclasmed! Stinger Splash, a biel, Bliss is out in the corner as Jax climbs to the second... ALEXA CUTS HER OFF AND KNOCKS HER TO THE FLOOR!

DDT ON THE STEEL STEPS! A long struggle to get her back inside... AND THE COVER CAN’T END IT! Off the ropes, Jax catches her into the fireman’s carry again, climbs, gets cut off, Bliss tries a powerbomb but the size differential is too much and she cuts her down with a hamstring kick! Giant step, up top, Twisted Bliss attempt and Nia catches her! Fireman’s carry...

Nia Jax wins by pinfall with the Samoan drop to retain the WWE Raw Women’s Championship.

Nia cuts a promo dedicating her victory to anyone who felt less than, anyone who didn’t think they were good enough, for anyone who’s been bullied or is being bullied, and she tells us we’re not alone and it’s okay to be different. Our uniqueness makes us special, and that’s beautiful. We’re good enough and we don’t need to change for a friend or for anyone. She makes no apologies for who she is and urges everyone to be who they are. (I’m on it, boss, don’t worry!)

And in the end, a bully always gets their ass kicked.

We get a hype video for Bruce Prichard’s podcast on the WWE Network.

Commentary recaps Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns from Greatest Royal Rumble to feed into a backstage interview with Samoa Joe. He says Roman’s lost his confidence, a little speed, a little power, and a whole lot of determination, but most importantly tonight he’s a man that’s losing to Joe. You shouldn’t ask how Roman feels, you should ask what Samoa wants him to feel, and that’s pain.

Tonight Roman will close his eyes, see Joe’s face and lament his failures, and tonight he’ll turn the Big Dog into a whimpering puppy.

Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Randy Orton (WWE United States Championship)

Collar and elbow, Hardy with a side headlock and he blocks the shoot off by shouldering Orton to the mat. Go behind, Randy breaks with a back elbow, side headlock, shot off, shoulder block takes him down, good for two and Orton wrenches at the head only to get jawbreaker’d and dropkicked to the floor. Slingshot dropkick, fired up on the apron, diving lariat to the floor!

Back inside, the Viper snaps off a kick to the gut and a dropkick to the face for a nearfall. Twist of Fate denied, back elbow up on the charge, Jeff climbs but gets crotched on the top turnbuckle. Hardy hung up in the Tree of Woe, Orton puts boots to him and chokes him, leading to admonishment from referee Ryan Tran. Right hand, wristlock, uppercuts, they head outside and Jeff wipes him out with a running leg lariat out of nowhere!

Beating him down on the floor, rolling him back in, going to slingshot back in and Randy wipes him out with a dropkick! The Viper smashes him into the steps before hitting the back suplex on the barricade twice running! Back inside, doing the Garvin Stomp, locking a bodyscissors reverse chinlock on. Jeff pries the legs open, gets to his feet, kick to the midsection, off the ropes with a flying lariat!

Manhattan Drop to the double leg drop to the midsection and into the basement dropkick! Up top, Whisper in the Wind lands true... NOPE! RKO denied but the snap scoop powerslam connects for a nearfall! Nudging Hardy to the apron, looking for the rope-hung DDT but it’s blocked, the leg-feed rolling solebutt, Hardyac Arrest comes up empty! Rope-hung DDT connects this time and the Viper goes to that special place!

Folding press to block the RKO, Twist of Fate connects, Hardy heads up top...

Jeff Hardy wins by pinfall with the Swanton Bomb, retaining the WWE United States Championship.

Elias is in the ring to sing us a song.

He talks about how he’s good friends with Bruce Springsteen, they go to parties together and talk about life and music, Bruce even calls HIM the Boss! Of all the great things he’s done, his only regret, you see, is that he’s from New Jersey. He dedicates this one to Springsteen and does his usual pre-song schtick. He does a yay/boo spot where he makes like he’s going to stop playing before he decides Bruce needs to hear this one--

New Day cut him off and make their entrance. Xavier Woods says they’ve heard some of Elias’ stuff before and it’s... actually fantastic! New Day want to join his concert and walk with Elias. The Drifter begs off, claiming to be a solo act, and so New Day launch into a tune of their own, arranged for trombone, bass drum, and cymbals.

Elias yells for them to stop and says there’s clearly something there and maybe one day they can open for him, but tonight is not that night and he’s gonna take it from the top--

Enter Aiden English. He runs New Day down in rap form and asks Elias if he realizes it’s Rusev Day, and Rusev follows out after him. Elias asks what the hell they’re doing and is responded to by way of Rusev Day chants. Rusev says they do what they want and only one person here that celebrates a holiday in his honor and it’s not Bootleg Bob Dylan or the Booty Boys.

Elias takes offense, saying Bob Dylan wishes he was him. This is his night, he’s gonna hit the lights (Hit the lights!) and start again--

Enter No Way Jose. He’s got Titus Worldwide and Breezango in tow! Elias has a meltdown, saying nobody better interrupt him again and taking the lights down one last time--

Enter Bobby Roode, right behind him! Glorious DDT connects without even taking his robe off! All the babyfaces conga their way offstage and Rusev has to physically stop Aiden English from joining them.

Daniel Bryan vs. Big Cass

Bryan starting out with leg kicks, targeting the bad knee and keeping his distance. Sidesteping a lariat, body blows, another hamstring kick, he goes to pick the leg but Big clubs him aside and decks him with a straight right hand! Dan kicks him to the floor, slingshot dropkick and a diving knee off the apron! Back inside, perched up top and the American Dragon hits the missile dropkick into the kip-up!

Yes! Kicks connect but Cass is able to chokeslam Bryan to cut him off! Clubbing blows, leaning Bryan back over the ropes and chopping his chest. Trading rights, Dan trying to fight back into it, body slam into the elbow drop but that’s not enough to put the American Dragon away. Right hands to the forehead, Cass taunts before going for a Canadian backbreaker rack but Bryan slips away in fairly short order.

Drop toehold puts Big into the turnbuckles, chest kicks in the corner feed into the running dropkicks! Cass counters the third one with a press drop and follows it up with a lariat! Only a nearfall, giant step, wristlock into short-arm lariats, maintaining wrist control through the third. Fired up in the corner, lying in wait but Bryan ducks the boot and takes his head off with a buzzsaw roundhouse kick!

Armbar takedown into the omoplata but he can’t quite connect the Yes! Lock! Crossface strikes, he grabs the crossface hold...

Daniel Bryan wins by submission with the Yes! Lock.

Cass attacks after the match while Bryan is posing on the turnbuckles and knocks him to the floor. A pair of biels follow and Big takes him back in the ring to hit the Mafia kick! He raises a fist in the air over the American Dragon’s unconscious body in celebration.

Commentary hypes up a post-show tonight that will feature Daniel Bryan and the Miz.

Carmella (c) vs. Charlotte Flair (WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship)

Flair off the ropes with a “Wooo!” to start and Carmella fires back mocking her and adding the strut-- Charlotte runs her over with the Mafia kick! Carmella bails and gets her title belt and makes like she’s gonna walk but Flair cuts her off and mat slams her on the floor before dumping her back inside for a nearfall.Leg pick, kick to the gut, small package... NOPE!

Charlotte’s Web comes up empty as well, figure four denied, running lariat, a plancha comes up empty and the champion lays her challenger out with a superkick! Grounded haymakers back in the ring, overhead elbows into a reverse chinlock, Carmella well in control here. Ragdolling Flair, sitting on her back with the chinlock still locked on, she tosses Charlotte aside when she nearly escapes, lands a superkick, and locks the reverse chinlock back on.

Flair on her feet and she counters with a backpack stunner, Carmella floats over with a neckbreaker and into mounted punches, then into a surfboard with repeated stomps to the back. Charlotte gets out with an imploding dropkick, gets the STO backbreaker combination, she’s feeling it and starts leaning into those chops. Back suplex, Carmella rolls to the apron, knee to the back of the neck, but the boot on the apron is reversed into a facebuster!

Bow-and-arrow around the ringpost, disdainful slaps, putting boots to the challenger, the Princess of Staten Island moonwalks but gets caught with the spear! Pick the leg but Carmella reverses and gets the Code of Silence on! Charlotte reverses to a victory roll, that gets rolled through, only a nearfall! Figure four denied, Flair up top, nobody home on the moonsault and her knee goes out from under her! Kick her leg outta her leg...

Carmella wins by pinfall with a folding press, retaining the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship.

AJ Styles (c) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (WWE Championship No Disqualification Match)

Nakamura bails at the bell and takes a walk at ringside. Styles around after him, Shinsuke heads back inside but AJ is able to yank him out and put him into the barricade twice running! Into the German announce table next, dragging Nakamura around and putting him back inside. Face into the turnbuckles, strikes in the corner, a snapmare, snap suplex, only good for one.

Off the ropes, knee lift, dropkick blocked, but the second one connects! Back outside, smashing him into the barricades once again, following it up with a Stinger Splash! Shinsuke comes back at him, throwing the champion hard into the steps and wiping him out knee-first! Nakamura sets him up on the apron and hits the knee trembler! Off the steps... GUILLOTINE KNEE DROP ACROSS THE BACK OF HIS NECK!

Back in, only a nearfall, the King of Strong Style puts boots to the champion in the corner before choking him into Good Vibrations. Knee drop to the face gets two, repeated covers, AJ throws chops in return but a roundhouse kick knocks him flat! Disdainful kicks to the back of the head, whip to a back body drop, cocky one-foot pin only gets one and Shinsuke follows up with the falling knees to the ribs and face.

Guillotine choke applied, Styles breaks with body blows but gets caught by the jump kick and sent to the floor! Nakamura follows, ramming him chest-first into the barricade, but a shot into the timekeeper’s area sees AJ float over and onto his feet! When he goes to springboard, Shinsuke kicks his legs out from under him and takes him back inside!

Dragging him up, kind of a head-and-arm triangle momentarily before shifting to a sleeper hold on the mat. Change to a Dragon sleeper, Styles gets to his feet, lands on his feet off a reverse exploder suplex again, charging in, up and over to the apron, short forearm, springboard... CAUGHT INTO A FIREMAN’S CARRY AND SET UP FOR THE CORNER KNEES!

Fired up, to the second... KINSHASA! NOPE! Fireman’s carry... LANDSLIDE! NOT ENOUGH! Stomping away on the apron, Nakamura goes and gets a chair but AJ ducks the shot, fireman’s carry, escaped, trading strike rushes, reverse roundhouse connects, Shinsuke moves the chair... INVERTED EXPLODER SUPLEX ONTO THE CHAIR! Fired up in the corner, calling for it... AJ STYLES THROWS THE CHAIR RIGHT AT HIS KNEE!

The chair bounced back at AJ and gashed him open, blood’s pouring down his face! Enzuigiri connects but Styles catches him into the Calf Killer shortly after! Nakamura screaming agony, reaching, trying to find an escape and he rolls through into a triangle choke! Deadlifting him up for the Styles Clash, Shinsuke gets the ropes, a forearm knocks him to the floor, AJ steels himself... but Shinsuke comes back in before the springboard and he stops himself!

Northern lariat, Ushigoroshi... NO GOOD! Duck a lariat, the Pele kick connects, Styles Clash denied... SHINSUKE WITH A LOW BLOW! AJ RETURNS THE FAVOR! Referee Jason Ayers issues the standing ten count, both men rise to their feet, slugging it out forearm-for-forearm, headbutt-for-headbutt, low blow for low blow! Again with the standing ten-count...

The match goes to a double knockout draw as a result of stereo low blows.

We get the Backlash music video here and now, 3/4s of the way through Backlash for reasons I’m too tired to understand.

Bobby Lashley & Braun Strowman vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

Lashley and Zayn to start, circling, collar and elbow, Bobby forces him in the corner, Sami turns it around and breaks with repeated pats to the chest. Backing up into the ropes, referee Darrick Moore warns Lashley off and Zayn comes back in. Go behind, side headlock, escape, front chancery, Sami breaks away and tags Owens in. Bobby with a waistlock takedown, smashing KO’s face into the turnbuckles, hard whip, charge into a boot but he catches a lariat and turns it into a swinging necbkreaker.

Kev with a right hand, tag to Sami, off the ropes, Lashley runs him over with a lariat, hard whip, corner lariat big elbow and Zayn heads to the floor. Bobby puts him into the barricade, headed over to the announce tables, smashes his face into the English desk, Zayn back inside, KO runs interference and a neck snap over the top rope takes Walking Armageddon out.

Senton on the floor, putting boot to Lashley in the ring, quick tag, mounted punches from Sami, Bobby within inches of a tag but Zayn holds him back! Owens in, knees up on the senton, tag to Strowman! Braun in hot with lariats, putting him in the corner, corner lariat, chasing Sami around the ring, running Kev over in the process and eventually Zayn is run into the barricade like Wile E. Coyote running into a painted tunnel on a cliff face!

Back in with KO, sidestep a charge and Strowman takes the post hard shoulder-firt! Tag to Zayn, fired up, Helluva Kick countered, escape the running powerslam and Sami makes a break for it! Owens disagrees, trying to keep him from walking out and they get into a shouting match on the ramp until he talks Sami into fighting. Zayn rolls him in the ring and leaves him to his own devices!

Clubbing blow, Owens rolls out and Sami seems satisfied he made his point until KO rolls him back in! Big slap, Zayn apologizes but Kev is fired up and pushes him against Braun... Sami makes a break for it and they keep bickering! Tag made, spinebuster from Lashley! Delayed vertical suplex on Owens...

Bobby Lashley & Braun Strowman win by pinfall with a delayed vertical suplex on Kevin Owens.

Strowman scoops Owens up as Sami stands at ringside and hits a running powerslam! Zayn begs off and runs but Strowman grabs him and throws him back in the ring... RUNNING POWERSLAM!

Commentary hypes up Money in the Bank and our Backlash post-show, mentioning that Daniel Bryan is off the post-show and replaced by Elias and Carmella.

Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe

Joe in before the bell, dumping Roman to the floor! Right hands from the Big Dog, Samoa fires back, smashing his face into the barricade... ROCK BOTTOM THROUGH THE SPANISH ANNOUNCE TABLE! He dumps Reigns over the English announce table before dragging him over and throwing him over the German table to boot!

Back inside, Joe is now ready to wait for the bell. It rings, Joe beats on Roman in the corner with no attempt at defense made. Snapmare into a chop to the back, knee drop across the face gets two! Top wristlock applied, Reigns posts to his feet and gets slammed back down to the mat. Neck crank applied, trying to wrench the Big Dog’s head off his shoulders.

Overhead elbows to break it up, wrenching back, following it with a kick to the arm and back to the crank but Roman wrenches his fingers to force a break. Corner enzuigiri, Tenryu jabs and right back to the neck crank, Reigns ends up on the floor and Samoa launches himself with a suicide dive that wipes him out! Back inside, the cover can’t do it.

Overhead elbows again, back into the top wristlock, Roman gets to his feet, breaks with punches, they trade forearms and the Big Dog connects with a boot against the ropes! Around the floor, the Drive-By connects, Roman heads back inside for the lariat sequence into the corner lariats, Joe comes back with the Manhattan Drop and the senton... NOPE!

Jockeying for position, Roman hits a spinebuster... only a nearfall! Samoa on his feet but uneasy, he sidesteps a spear, Coquina Clutch but Reigns slips away and to the floor! Drive-By... JOE CAUGHT HIM OUT OF MID-AIR! Roman reverses, victory roll pin, only a nearfall, Superman Punch... CAN’T PUT SAMOA JOE AWAY! Howling, charging in, spear countered with a roundhouse kick!

Roman charges in, another spear... JOE GETS HIS FOOT ON THE ROPES! Both men contemplative, trying to dig deep and figure out what they need to do to end this match, to their feet, duck a lariat, counter the spear with a kick, Coquina Clutch is on and Samoa falls back, Roman into a pin... NOT HAPPENING! Nobody home on the corner elbow, O’Connor roll, Joe kicks out and goes back to the Coquina Clutch! Bodyscissors applied and the Big Dog is failing!

His eyes snap open and Reigns rolls into the ropes to force the break! Samoa sets Roman up top, maybe thinking muscle buster, Reigns gets away, off the ropes...

Roman Reigns wins by pinfall with a spear.

That’s the show, folks.
