Paige on career ending injury: ‘I lost all feeling in my legs & arms’

@RealPaigeWWE

Not many athletes are forced to retire at age 25. Then again not many pro wrestlers have the resume of Paige. The inaugural NXT women’s champion at 20 and the youngest WWE Diva’s champion at 21, Paige is now settling into her role as the General Manager of SmackDown.

Suffering a neck injury at a December house show that forced her to retire from in-ring competition, Paige stopped by the E & C’s Pod of Awesomeness this week to talk her WWE career and life outside of the ring.

One of the more real moments of the interview was when Paige described the night she suffered her career ending injury.

“When the accident happened in the ring, I lost all feeling in my legs and my arms. It was literally the most terrifying experience of my life and I never wish that upon anyone. It was so scary. I literally thought, ‘I’m done. I’m going to be in a wheelchair now. This is it. I pushed myself too much.’ I really did. I feel like I pushed myself too hard to the point where my body was done.”

Paige also wanted to address fans who ask her if she is going to come back for one more big match.

“No guys. My doctor said maybe in 15-20 years time; but, I don’t think I want to wrestle in 15-20 years time.”
