As someone who was not a fan of the closing angle from the latest episode of NXT, this scene WWE released on YouTube helped. It’s not only a clever way to announce one of the matches for TakeOver: Chicago 2 on June 16, but it also gives Candice LeRae’s character a chance to pivot from “over-productive wife who forgot she’s in the wrestling business” to “rational person who refuses to participate in an insane situation”.
Still not sure how a Street Fight is substantially different from an Unsanctioned Match, but my complaint has never been that I don’t want to see Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa wrestle more. Hopefully this is a sign we’re quickly moving past the poorly built and illogical retirement fake-out and back into plot developments which make more sense from the characters we’ve come to know over the years:
The Street Fight joins the Tag Title match announced on Thursday to give us two official entries on the card for NXT’s return to Allstate Arena:
- Johnny Gargano vs. Tommaso Ciampa in a Street Fight
- Undisputed ERA (Roderick Strong and Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch for the Tag Team Championship

What do you think, of the TakeOver card or the Gargano/Ciampa build, Cagesiders?
