WWE SmackDown Live ratings (May 22, 2018): Numbers down again, show still worth lots of money

You can say the same thing The General said yesterday about Raw’s numbers. The ratings and viewership for SmackDown’s May 22 episode on USA Network stunk. But it really doesn’t matter right now, because they’re relatively stable, performing better than everything other than other live offerings, and therefore still worth a lot of money to broadcasters.

With a bunch of segments announced in advance and a Daniel Bryan/Jeff Hardy showdown at the top of the list, the blue brand’s audience lost more than a 100,000 viewers from the week prior. 2,195,000 is another of this month’s “new low since Halloween last year” figures.

Still it was the seventh biggest audience among cable originals on the night, behind NBA coverage of a classic Western Conference Finals showdown between Golden State and Houston, and numerous political talk shows on Fox News and MSNBC.

The rating among 18 - 49 year olds was also down to a new low of .68, third best of the night behind basketball.

Here’s a list of SmackDown’s numbers over the past six months (including overall 18 - 49 year old ratings for 2018 episodes):
