Maybe that post-WrestleMania lull is starting to set in?
April was a huge month for the WWE with WrestleMania 34 week, a Superstar Shakeup and the Greatest Royal Rumble all falling within weeks of one another. Despite the SmackDown brand “winning” the latest Shakeup versus Raw, the ratings on TV have not been kind to Tuesday nights since the locker rooms were shuffled.
Following the huge Tuesday after WrestleMania ratings number on Apr. 10, SmackDown has seen its rating drop for three consecutive weeks. For the Tuesday May 1 edition of SmackDown, WWE drew 2,436,000 viewers.
Despite lower than expected numbers, the WWE still checked in as the fourth most watched original cable broadcast on the night.
This was the smallest audience on Tuesday night for SmackDown since a rough run of shows in October of 2017.
