At this point, I really don’t care if Nikki Bella and John Cena’s public break-up is a work, a shoot, a shoot being used as a work. It’s clearly promotion for Total Bellas season three (premiering Sunday, May 20 on E!) and their careers in general.
Real or prefabricated, I am wondering what would make anyone want to publicly flay themselves the way this whole thing has both John and Nikki.
Cena was back on Today this morning (May 15), recapping his “soul-baring” promo from yesterday morning and addressing Bella’s reaction to it. In talking to (past Raw guest stars and honorary Rosebuds) Kathie Lee and Hoda about things, the Blockers star said things like:
“Thank you for giving me a chance to be honest,” and...
“I did what I did yesterday for one person and one person only, and it’s because I love her,” and...
“It was very important for me to be honest with myself, with you, with all of you, because in turn, that allows me to be honest with Nicole,” and...
“I learned so much from yesterday, just from being able to be comfortable with who I am and being honest in public. That’s such a liberating thing,” and...
“I just wanted her to hear me. I can’t force someone to return... you can’t force someone to love you. You can’t,” and...
“Here are my cards, they’re on the table - we’ll figure out where it goes.”
Nikki will be a guest on Today later this week.
