Multiple sites have reported Ronda Rousey is part of the WWE contingent at today’s NBC Upfronts presentation in New York. Rousey will be part of star-studded line-up at the annual unveiling of the network’s fall 2018 line-up, joining Stephanie McMahon, John Cena, Nikki Bella and Nia Jax.
The presence of the company’s newest mainstream star has increased speculation WWE and NBC may be announcing more than just the renewal of Total Divas on E! and the next year’s worth of Raw and SmackDown on USA. This is around the time when WWE had hoped to announce their plans for their next television contract, and NBC has emerged as the frontrunner to win that business, at least on the rumor mill.
Along with word of Rowdy in New York comes a report from POST Wrestling that her next match will be announced soon. John Pollock says Rousey will wrestle at Money in the Bank in Chicago on June 17. He doesn’t have information about the opponent or match at this time, but wrote “Rousey’s opponent for the show should be evident after Monday.”
Ronda set up a program with Mickie James in the fallout from WrestleMania 34, and is listed as working with the veteran on the European tour later this week. It’s feasible WWE might also book their star for another pay-per-view (PPV) tag match, working with Natalya or even Jax against James and Alexa Bliss.
Stay tuned on what could be a day of big news, from one side of the Atlantic or another.
